I do it all the time as well. Just cruising around town, I go from 3rd to 6th as long as I am going at leat 35mph . I had a 1994 Pontiac Formula and there was a feature called "skip-shift" that forced you to go from 1st to 4th. They did this to help meet the corporate fuel economy standards. The only way to bypass the skip-shift was to get into the gas more aggressively . I did end up bying an eliminator to get rid of this feature because it was a PITA!
