Seems a shame the Nissan unit does not come with a thermostatic plate, especialy at that price...

For a little over $100 with fittings You can retrofit to a Mocal Thermo plate or add an outboard thermostat. Replacing the plate is the simplest. See the parts list in My oil Cooler install album here:
