Interesting idea. How do you plan to mount this to the oil pan? From my basic computer building experience, you need to maximize the mating between the two surfaces. Even microscopic grooves can affect heat transfer. That's why computer cpu has thermal compound between the heatsink and cpu.

Also, do you plan to modify or remove the lower plastic cover? I imagine you would want max air passing across the fins.
