Provided there is no body work to do on the car you could repaint a base coat clear coat for around $2000 with materials and labor. Most paint runs about $100-$200 a gallon, for the color base and a $100 a gallon for clear coat and primer, then add another $150 for thinners.

If you went with a solid acrylic enamel 2 part system with a hardener added to the paint it even cheaper. That is what they put on at the cheap paint shops, the cheap shops are not a bad option if your just getteing an old beater or project car freshend up etc. You do most of the small ding and rust repair your self and they spray on the primer and top coat and your done, not show or factory quality, but for around $600 its not a bad deal.

You really have to look around for deals on the painting, as the Z is a very small car and it doesn't take much in materials or time to paint it, most of the work is in removing the tail tights and grill areas and masking the car properly.

Also it shouldn't take any longer than 8 hrs to paint a car properly, once its prepped.

I would never advise anyone to change the color on a new model car, unless they are redoing over as a custom etc, most of the time when you change the color of the car you need to a lot of body disassembly of the car, to do the color change correctly.
