Well, in my case I bought a many Nissans in the past. Maximas, Altimas, 350Z, 300ZXT's, Pathfinders. All were had perfect paint from the factory and it didn't need a clay bar treatment.
As for my 370Z - It must have been sitting under a tree that sapped a lot for a few days I think. It was horrible. It was as rough as sandpaper. 30 mins with clay bar and another 30 mins with wax and it was beautiful. Dealer threw me a $100 bill to do this myself.

I know I did a much better job than their detail shop could have ever done.
So, it does happen....
