ALWAYS go to court and fight tickets. You will, at the very least, get a substantial reduction in cost. Since it was done with virtuially no other cars on the road at the time, you have a good bargaining chip right there.

Courts are so overloaded with serious schit...when minor traffic violations are contested, they will usually sit you down with an assistant D.A. and in a couple of minutes you'll be on your way having pleaded to a lesser offense or similar...

Still, that just blows.
