I write for a growing tech site and my own blog -- both use WordPress.

Echoing the above, WordPress is the most powerful out-of-the-box solution on the market that I'm aware of. It has a huge community behind it, and the software itself is very stable and fast.

Tumblr is kind of neat for what it is, but it isn't professional at all. Blogger CAN be good, but it is incredibly limiting, and is better suited for someone who wants to keep their thoughts contained to their circle of friends, imo.
