Waxed Dental Floss adds some protection while cutting the adhesive.

In my case, the surface was damaged by etching of glue from the previous emblem. Therefore, I had to buff the surface out with plastic polish.... veeerrrry carefully and a bit at a time.

Then rubbing alcohol to prep surface for new emblem and then I waxed AFTER the installation of the new emblem. Waxing before doesn't give as good of a surface for new emblem to adhere to.
