I had Mazdaspeed intakes on my Mazda3 (installed at dealer actually) and they refused warranty work because they said the intake was damaged and it allowed dirt into the MAF (it did have a hole in the piping likely from a high curb and the bad filter design). They wanted to charge me 1k for the MAF sensor and new intake setup. I was able to clean MAF and replace intake for $50 but regardless it CAN backfire.
