@fat, lol that is pretty funny. I'm like you, wouldn't even talk to the guy anymore. If you look at truecar.com, in my area the car you are talking about could be bought for 28.4k (including destination fee), so if you added taxes onto that you are sitting just above 30k (depending are where you are at). Why wouldn't he come back with a number like 31k to continue the negotiation process?

@scott, my numbers are otd so I don't think they are too high, am I missing something? You are probably right about the money being made but I have a hard time believing many people know the actual money being made by a dealer on a new car. Its more complicated than just invoice, incentives and the price you paid. They also have to figure in the cost to keep the car on the lot.
