Actually, these days, if you spend the cash, neither detectors or jammers are detectable. The cops don't know for sure you have a jammer, I don't think it can be detected. All they know is for that split second, they cant get a speed reading off you. You just have to be fast. When a jammer goes off, you have to brake hard in a split second reaction. Most good jammers have auto shut offs. When they are triggered, you'll get an audible warning, then you have a few prescious seconds to slow before the system shuts off. That way the cop gets his speed reading. With a laser detector, you have to get a lock on a target. So, for a few seconds, the cop just thinks he's getting his lock. Cheaper ones have manual shut offs and that's when you'll most likely get caught because it takes a little longer and the cop will know he can't lock onto your car. But to the best of my knowledged, the units can't actually be detected, only suspected.

Most radar detectors are undetectable now but they are almost obselete anyway because as DJ mentioned, laser is where speed detection is at now.

$1500 will make you pretty safe with detection and jamming but good luck if you get caught. If you spend the big bucks, you can be pretty safe.
