1. Open trunk
2. Attach wire to fuel pump
3. Close trunk and hurry and get in car before it flooded
4. Start car

I had an '82. It was also unreliable.
Wherever I went, I brought 2 big bottles of water, because the radiator leaked like hell.
I also carried a brick with me, because the emergency brake just plain didn't work.
