There have been some great suggestions here. However, since you're in Deutschland (and included club/rave), get familiar with the DJ Westbam (and the annual Loveparade, which has now been indefinitely cancelled). Plan your free week(s) on Ibiza, which is essentially a nonstop party island off the Spanish coast in the Mediterranean.

Tiesto, Oakenfold, VanDyk, Guetta are the slightly-older, more established DJs (who created the wave). Deadmau5 is considered cutting edge in that he's actively creating new material, and his collaborations with Kaskade have been very well received.

Generally speaking, techno is (was) supposed to be the intellectual counterpart to trance. But lyrics are a problem if you're over in Germany.

You can greatly impress your girlfriend with your knowledge / mastery / collection of Brian Eno's music, mostly from the 1980s. He was there before all of them. Electronica should never have a Cleveland Hall of Fame like Rock & Roll does, but Eno was to new music what Don Estridge was to the PC. (A final tidbit from the Eno wiki -- he's the guy who created the Microsoft Windows startup sound.)

And if all fails and you're lost, just put Kraftwerk on the turntable. Can't go wrong.

Finally -- to save yourself a lot of time, search for YouTube videos of any of the bolded names.
