I tried sanding on one of them first, it didn't work very well at all. I think it would be incredibly hard to tape it up enough for painting. You should ship me your cars, I'll paint half of them for you and ship em back
Edit: also, that model paint on top of glossy white looks like ****, that's what I tried first. Disassembly, two coats gloss white, paint on the lights, then reassembly. It looked awful.
