My Z1 experience

A big thank you to Chuck @ Z1...

I had ordered a set of Post MAF tubes and the K&N drop in filters from Z1. The tubes arrived promptly, and the filters a day later becasue of a back order.
Couple days later, I received another set of filters. Woo-hoo! Double filtration! So I called up Z1 and spoke with Chuck. He said he'd send me a return label for the extra filters.

I also explained to him that I was having extreme difficulty getting the passenger side tube on and asked if perhaps it was off spec or something. He offered to send out another set for me to compare them against. Couple days later, I got the new set (same dimensions unfortunately). I ended up having to trim the passenger side a bit, yet the drivers side went on super easy - I think my engine may sit a little cocked or something - definitely not an issue with the tubes themselves.

So today I'm returning the extra filters and the second set of tubes to Z1, but I wanted to let everyone know what a class act they are. Turns out the issue was with my car and not their product and they still took care of me quickly and promptly. Couldn't ask for anything more...

I too have had nothing but positive experiences with Z1. Great group of people over there and very willing to help if anything go awry.

From what I've read it seems mulitple members have had to trim the passenger side.

Good job Z1, top notch customer service!

I got mine in alright. Had to wrestle with both because the silicone is not as flexible as the stock stuff, but they went in without modification.

Good to hear I am thinking of going with the Post MAF tubes as well. Trying to talk myself out of the Stillen G3 or new long tube Takeda. I don't want to have to take off the front bumper everytime to clean the filters so I think that will seal the deal when its time to order.

My cat-back is coming sometime next month and I'm trying to get on a dyno to do a baseline before I install it. Debating doing a couple extra runs to put the stock intake back on and then switching it out to see what the actual gains are. I don't know if anyone every posted a graph of a before and after drop-in/post-maf tube setup.

Good to hear. I like supporting dealers who look after their customers.

The Z1 guys are great. I was surprised when the FedEx driver knocked on the door on Saturday with a Z1 box. I just ordered them on Thursady! I already had plans for the day, so I couldn't install them...but I will today!!

I installed my tubes today. All in all, I'd say it went rather well. I did not remove the cross-member. I started to, but it seemed like a lot of work and a real pain in the a**, so I figured if others were able to do it, why not try.

The thing I did do to make install easier is use a spray bottle with an alcohol solution in it. Alcohol evaporates very quickly, so I sprayed it on the silicone tube and the air box lead, to act as lubrication and get the tube to slide on easier. It worked. Just a bit of wrestling and some alcohol spray, and I had both sides done in about an hour.

Silicone spray is a must have for installing silicone hoses. Thanks for supporting us!
