Hot!

Dustin@Z1 11-13-2010 11:57 AM

For customers who have never seen a Wrinkle finish or need a better example. The Honda S2000 and Dodge Viper use a similar finish on their engines. It is similar to the rough, cast aluminum surface on many parts, but with a durable color coating.

I am a bit partial of the wrinkle finish!

Dan Z Man 11-15-2010 03:54 PM

ohhh yes, i know what you're talking about, the valve cover on my s2000(it was red) was like 'wrinkled'...looks awesome!

flashburn 11-15-2010 04:09 PM

Any chance of doing some sort of swap program for those of us that already have these intakes? Something like we pay $X amount for just the pipes, then we mail back our existing ones and then get a refund of $Y? That might draw in a good deal of people, since lots already have these intakes.

josh@z1 11-15-2010 04:39 PM

Yes we will consider a core exchange however the core will be very high. Say on a gen 3 intake the core could be as high as $400 for the convenience of being able to get the parts before we inspect your pipes. Even on the pipes neatly installed I have seen some imperfections that I know certain 370Z owners would not asccept.

flashburn 11-15-2010 05:21 PM

Yeah, mine have a bunch of scratches on them (bought used), but I figured that wouldn't matter once you powder coat them.

Mike 11-15-2010 08:10 PM

and, I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure if you wanted a color not listed, it could be arranged ;)

Chuck@Z1 11-20-2010 11:56 AM

We will be getting several more of these intakes in next week and will have them ready to send out for the custom finish of your choice.

If you have a custom color request just give us a call or send a PM.

What kind of wait are we looking at after ordering to get the pipes painted as such, then shipped?

Two weeks, at the most.

XwChriswX 02-07-2011 08:58 PM

Cool, I'm thinking of doing Gloss Black pipes with Red Silicone. Sound good?

Mike 02-08-2011 07:41 AM

that would look nice. I know the guy who does their coating ;)

That would look nice on a blacked out Z. Do that and possibly paint the engine cover like the NISMO.

We do not stock the various colors pre-coated, this is only due to the fact that there are 9 available finishes standard. So unfortunately there is a bit of a wait on the pipes to be sent out, powder coated and finally shipped out.

Give Mike a shout if you are interested in special ordering custom color combinations on any of the powder coated products we offer. There are WAY to many color options available to list.

XwChriswX 02-08-2011 03:00 PM

Yeah the Red nismo cover would look good with that too! Thats the color theme I'm going with is Black/Red...

Just need to get my calipers PCd and I'll be set.

XwChriswX 03-03-2011 06:46 PM

Ok Dustin, lets pull the trigger on this! PM Sent.

You should also look at some of Z1's other silicones. Like radiator, radiator overflow, and PCV set. And they have a few more. None cost that much but are a great way to finish out your engine bay.

Eventually I'll have all of them replaced in red. Just trying to get the more expensive parts done now...

red6spd 03-03-2011 07:47 PM

Dammmmmmmmmmmmmmm... I would have got these in a heart beat if I knew about it ummm 5-6 months ago LOL... Where you guys even doing it then?

Dustin@Z1 03-04-2011 04:39 PM

I just looked for myself. The original post date is back in November of last year. I know for a fact it was maybe a week or so before that when we first started doing these in house. We then decided to offer them to everyone else as an option shortly thereafter. Do you still have you stock air boxes by chance?

XwChriswX 03-04-2011 05:25 PM

Dustin, I'm ordering my set now. Did you get my PM about the coilovers?

Dustin@Z1 03-04-2011 05:46 PM

Yes sir! I will reply in a PM now.

XwChriswX 03-04-2011 06:22 PM

Actually Dustin, since I just came upon a set of wheels/tires I won't be able to get the intakes right now. That will prolly have to wait till next month. But I'm still looking to get some coilovers.

Yes sir, the wrinkle finish is a texture coat that resembles a cast aluminum in my opinion. The wrinkle red and black have been very popular with our customers.

For the NISMO 370Z Install, there is another mod that is recommended that is not shown above to install the GEN III's. When you remove the front fascia, you will find two black air guides that are pop riveted on top of the front aluminum crash bar. To prevent damaging the the two Stillen air filters, we recommend drilling out the pop rivets and removing them.

You should see Torpedo2K's engine bay once the NISMO engine cover is reinstalled!!

Just letting everyone know...there were many inquiries into the color BLUE that we had available for the GEN III Intakes. Unfortunately the Blue was dark in comparision to the factory 370Z Monterray Blue and was NO WHERE close to matching. We have been searching for an alternative and have now sourced a BLUE that is nearly a perfect match to the Monterray Blue (RAE). It is available ONLY in a Gloss finish at this time however we are exploring possible Wrinkle Finishes as well.

This blue has a perfect micture of metal flake and color and looks awesome in the sunlight.

I currently have one set being Powder Coated now and will be posting up pics as soon as it is ready! If you are interested in a set of the Monterray Blue Stillen Gen III Intakes, give me a shout or shoot me a PM!

Dustin@Z1 07-06-2011 12:22 PM

Everyone, I wanted to update you on a recent development. As of today, we are now offering th Stillen Gen III Intakes with a RAE Monterrey Blue Powder Coat (available only in Gloss at this time). We have sourced a blue that is EXTREMELY close to the factory paint code and have verified the shade on multiple Monterrey Blue cars.

Like all other Gen I, II and III Powder Coated Intakes, this color is only available via special order. I have one intake in stock with the RAE Blue finish now and is ready to ship!

The above intake is shown with the optional Z1 Silicone Couplers.

With this said...if any of you have pictures of your Z with a set of Z1 Powder Coated Stillen Intakes, post them up as well. I would like to get a good photo collection started so other's can draw some inspiration as well.
