Actually they're not bad. Lots use them! They don't get greasy and slippery at all in a several second drag race. Motortrend or car and driver actually did a test racing them vs all seasons vs summers on a track. They are a second or two slower per lap vs the summers but the rest was quite good and surprising.

I agree with getting a beater. For $1000 or so in wheels and tires I got a great Durango for $2900. Worth every penny to not drive in salt and kill my car.

As for a Z with winter tires I'd take that or a corvette or anything with real ice/snow tires even over my Durango with all seasons any day!!

To each his/her own. They're cars, not garage ornaments IMHO.
