Tire question

This may be the wrong section to ask this question but I finally had a chance to install my new 305/30/19's and the handling on the rear is horrible. It feels as if the rear is loose with a lot of sway. The front tire size is 245/40.. At this point I kinda wish I would have the on the 285/35's.. Any thoughts or suggestions?

When you say it feels loose. Do you mean that as you are just cruising you can feel the rear pull to one side or the other?

Just came from Nissan and they checked the alignment and said it was fine. It almost feels as if the sway bars is disconnected and the rear just dances around when you turn the car left or right. Busted shock, busted sway bar, cord mis aligned in the new tire, front tire being 1/2 inch higher than the rear? Hell I may just put the 285/35 back on..

Tires not broken in yet?

speedfreek 09-18-2014 03:33 PM

I was going to say it may just be the 305's tracking the grooves in the road. But sounds like the tires need to get broken in some. They all come a little greasy from the mold. Put a few more miles on them and see if they start sticking better.

Ding ding ding!!!

I think CT is correct Cosmo. ESPECIALLY if you have RS3's or another sticky compound.

Also, 305/30 is SHORTER than 285/35

I assure you its not a matter of being broken in, the tire has a defect. Ordering some 285/35ZR19 Continental ExtremeContact DW now...

Is it pulling only one way? Maybe the tires are mounted wrong? Outside in/vice versa
