Bridgestone RE760
My factory Yokohama Advan rears are gone at 17k miles. The fronts will go another 6k miles. I am looking for a good mid priced street tire for my 2013 base Z with the stock 18” wheels. The Bridgestone RE760 sport and the Goodrich g force sport comp2’s are on my radar currently. Has anyone had experience with these tires? Any other tires recommended in this price range?

i run the 760's on my dd. they are good tires for the price. id even recommend them for dd use.
double check the load rating vs your stock advans. GL with you decision. |
I had the 760's they were good tires for the price with hard spirited daily driving. Good around corners too. I just recently upgraded a little the pole postions s04's which are good also for a hundred or so more bucks.

I have run the BFG Sport comp2 as street tire for a Boss Mustang and find the tire to be quite good all round, especially for the price. I would feel comfortable tracking or Auto-Xing this tire. I can speak to longevity as the tire has only seen 4k miles on my Mustang...still looks new though.

Ive had both the g-force sports on multiple vehicles whilst DD'ing, and went through 2 sets of re760's on my last 370, the g-force sports wore poorly on each vehicle (cupping and the sort) and got very loud, were also kinda crappy in the rain. The re760's are very good for the price, but didn't last very long at all, I got 11,000 out of both sets, but they are confidence inspiring, which I like. Decent option either way, but after having both, i'd say if you can spend a tad more for a more upscale tire such as the continentals or s04 pole positions, I know I will next time.

Thanks Guys. I'll probably go with the RE760 rears for now and then switch to a full set of the S04's when its time to replace all.

I have the GeForce sport comp 2's now, they are loud, horrible when cold, and not enough grip with the stock 18 size. I have put about 6k miles on them and they are toast... But that with 6 auto cross days on them and i have an aggresive alignment. I would not get them again even if someone gave them to me. I just need them to last until it's time for my Z to hibernate mid NOV hopefully.

Installed RE760
The Bridgestone RE 760’s were installed on the rear of my z today. The fronts are still the stock Advans. Rear grip is good but the cornering response feels “rubbery” for lack of a better term. Rear camber is set at -1.5 degrees. Rear toe in is 0.100”. At highway speeds the front tires turn in precisely as before, but the rear doesn’t generate equal cornering force until after a slight delay. I guess that means the RE760’s need more slip angle than the Advans to generate the same cornering force. No matter what the reason, the car feels more and more unstable as speed increases.
My tire dealer has agreed to give full credit for the RE760’s against a move to an upgraded tire. So I am now looking at Michelin pilot super sport to get that precise cornering feel on the rears. How are the S04’s with respect to precise cornering response? Any other tires to look at? Thanks for any suggestions. |
I went with nitto nt-05 awesome tires

i run RE11's and S04's on my hobby cars. perfect for me. i like them both  |
RE 760 Follow up
I gave the RE 760’s about 300 miles to show any change in response, but no luck. Discount Tire allowed me to trade up to the Pilot super sports with no charge for the remount and balance. The difference was immediate. The PSS lateral response is very close to the Advans. These will be great street tires for my DD. The review in the attached link seems accurate.

I've only run RE760's since I first bought the Z. Great value for all season.
Warnings: -The tread wear goes fast in the first 4,000 miles, then slowly for the remainder of the life; so you're left with half-life tires 1/4 through their life. The depth is thick after 4k mi just enough for the tire to be a decent tire for the remainder of the tread life. -Aggressive driving: FYI, I have road marks halfway up my sidewalls due to harder cornering. Near the end of treadlife, the tire can actually start to fall apart with really aggressive cornering. (current set in this condition - changing next weekend). |
