tire rotation

Since you cannot rotate from front to back who has their tires cross rotated. Is it a waste of time? I have driven about 5k miles since Dec. and the previous owner bought new tires in Oct. I didn't see any info..
THANKS

Unless you weigh 300+ lbs or your alignment is way out I'd say waste of time.

Alignment should be identical on both sides of the car.

i dont rotate my tires on this car or any RWD car for that matter that runs staggered setup.

when i swap wheels i use masking tape to mark which side the wheel/tire came off the car so
that i have the same orientation when i swap back.

It wouldn't work if your tires are directional, or else if would be rolling backwards.
I had my v12 evo dismounted and remounted on the opposite wheel to increase mileage. It didn't restore the traction I was looking for though

plus, doesnt that make your tires howl louder?

"Rotating your tires means moving them from one side of the vehicle to the other, moving them from front to back, or a combination of both. This helps avoid uneven tire wear, which can lead to poor performance and decreased gas mileage." - Goodyear - Tire rotation

If your tires are wearing evenly, there's not much need to rotate tires.

yah, but considering most people make more right turns than left, the tires do wear on one side more than the other.
(not being picky about your post, just the way it is).

i dont bother with rotation on my rwd cars.

Interesting. Something I'd never thought of. And if I had thought of it, probably would have considered it insignificant. I'll have to file that factoid into permanent memory. :)

yah, i noticed this when i looked at cars that drive on the wrong side of the road.. you know like japan.

the tires wear differently than our cars because they make more left hand turns. :D

kenchan 05-15-2014 11:01 AM

...so maybe this is why they dont have fuel starve issues in japan!

Perhaps the first appropriate use of the word "factoid" I've seen :drama:

Factoid - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

SouthArk370Z 05-15-2014 01:40 PM

"A factoid is a questionable or spurious (unverified, false, or fabricated) statement presented as a fact, but without supporting evidence.

The word can also be used to describe a particularly insignificant or novel fact, in the absence of much relevant context."

Both of those are what I meant.
