Wtf Christmas Tree!

Okay y'all so I had put a set of 275/40/20 tires on the front of the Z and they rubbed ALL OVER my fender both at the top and where the side skirt mounts the fender. Needless to say had I left it alone I would have destroyed my fender so I swapped them for a 275/30/20 front paired with my 315/35/20 rear and took it down the road to make sure there were no longer any issues. Made it a half mile down the road and my dash goes up like a damn Christmas tree! VCD off light, slip light criuise light key in the ignition light and a loss of a speedometer. Someone please tell me there's some possible way to fix this bs. Has to be the dumbest @ssed issue I've had to deal with yet. (And yes I've already tried clearing codes) sorry normally I do some reading before I ask questions but I need answers like yesterday.

So, I'm going to resurrect this one from the dead, in hopes that the wealth of information in this forum hasn't died over the years with it. Has anyone figured out a sure-fire way to run a these cars with a decent amount of rake for example a 26" tall tire on the front and a 28" tall tire on the rear. I've been doing some pretty extensive hunting to find exactly what manages this 3% front - rear lenience on tire sizing with no luck as to what exactly is controlling this. I've got it narrowed down to ABS module, Wheel Speed Sensors, ECU. Is it possible to plug a Dongle into the OBD buss, and disable or even possible un-plug the front wheel speed sensors, such that the car wouldn't be put into a state of hysteria like in the OP. Idk at this point I'm brain storming and as usual I'm probably going to be stuck pioneering whatever happens from here forward BUT if someone has already beaten me to this PLEASE DO SHARE! I would love to skip the unknowns, what-ifs, and potentially wasted money/time from buying multiple sets of front tires to theory craft if this is even possible to do.

Your car is probably wondering wtf too. I didn't even know 375 was possible on the Z even for the rear!!

Are you sure on those tire widths?

And... Usually that Christmas tree effect is due to the wheel/tire combo being so far off from each other...

He actually said 375 front!

Btw, OP.
275/40-20 is 2" taller than OEM

If you meant 275/30-20, you're less than 1/4" smaller than stock

And if you meant 275/30-20 front and 315/35-20 rear, your rear wheels are OVER 2" taller than one another, giving you the lights as I mentioned above.

OP, I'm sorry, but you gotta do your homework, if the rear is wider, you need LESS side profile, not more.

C'mon DE you really think I'm dumb enough to try and fit a 375 on the car!? That was a damn typo. I was running 275/40/20 in the front 315/35/20 in the rear. Had no issues driving the car for 6 miles except the running. Now I am running a 275/30/20 front and 315/35/20 rear and I have a mess at my hands. If being "off of stock size" was an issue I would've though the several miles I ran a month ago on a 235/35/20 front and a 275/30/20 rear would have left me with the same problems and even more so the case for the first sizes I mentioned. I don't feel this is a "different height than stock issue" I think it's a massive wheel speed difference front to rear issue. I'm just wondering if I can disable it until I can get a 275/35/20 NT05 on the car.

I don't need to know the basics. I already know all of that crap. I'm just lost as to how I can pop a bead on a tire and have to use my buddies 18" SSR SP1s on 295s with a 20" 235/35 get speed limited to 25 until I slow down and turn my VDC off manually but I can't do the same between off sized front and rear 20" tires.

We have seen dumb people here, so we never assume anything.

Trust me guys I'm no newbie to the forum just because I have a low post count lol. Chances are if you've seen them I've been right there viewing them as well haha. Im just looking for some quick chime ins to say "hey yeah this will disable it or this will let you work around it." I'm supposed to get the car tuned Friday at 9 am and since I work till at least 3:30 tomorrow I find it hard to believe ill be able to travel 60miles to the nearest Nitto dealer and then back to my hometown to get them mounted and balanced before 5pm.(rocket ship excluded)

Lol, I know you've been around :-)

Wheel speed difference front to rear is what I meant, not just off the stock size

Rid3_FaM0uS 04-09-2014 11:12 PM

I'm just going to put the 40s back on and buy coils and stop being a little B!+ch about it I suppose. I just didn't know if there was a way via UpRev or fuses hell idk to fool or disable the speed sensors. It is what it is I suppose. Lesson learned(the hard way unfortunately!)
