Lug nut recommendation for TE37SL?

I'm not sure which to purchase.

My first priority is to have lug nuts that can offer sufficient protection for my wheels. I would also want them to be red, not JDM red, but a shade of red that matches with the sticker.

But I will welcome all suggestions.

I know it's not red but I think this looks good.
Red lug nuts might take attention away from those te37s, which should not happen. Just an opinion :icon17:

these wheels are teh secks... I just picked up some work rs red lugs to match my red stickers and they are a little bit too jdm red (read: pink) but not as bad as the rays standard lugs in my opinion, but i couldn't justify the price tag on those formula lugs. i wish i would have picked up the kics in hind sight as they are apparently really red.

I would personally just go with Rays/Volk Racing lug nuts...they come in red and you can order them with the same company that you are purchasing the wheels from.

Personally I like the simple black lug nuts so it doesn't show the extra accent

I already purchased the wheels and received the shipment back in October.

Those Rays lugs are super expensive if I remember correctly. I'll have to look at the pros and cons to see if they're worth it.

But it seems like they are the best. :icon17:

I was in the same situation as you looking for new lugs to replace my Work RS-R 'Red' (so Pink lol) ones that I had to drill out, and I also looked at the Volk ones. It wasn't the high price that turned me off them though, it was reports while reading reviews that over time the hex portion of the caps will strip out, and the socket that comes with them to remove the nut will start to round off too making removing them impossible.

I ended up going with the Project Kics R40 Revo's and ordering the red caps for those. Seems like they are pretty universally the most loved tuner nuts for strength, durability and looks. Same 2-piece floating collar design too. And you can get them from garage16.ca which is local to you

Awesome, I will look into it.

If you don't mind me asking, what did you pay for the lugs and the extra caps?

edconline 04-09-2014 11:15 PM

Lugs were exactly $300 CAD from garage16, they shipped them free too. The caps are only $22 but I ordered those from the US and shipping was like $28. :shakes head: Bought the caps before the lugs and hadn't discovered garage16 yet, so maybe they could bring the caps in. The REVO's come with caps but they are black.

Volk Formula lugs.

NOTE: Any decent red will turn pink over time and heat. Unless you want pink lugs... try another color.

LOL RENDERING? Really? Is that's what you call those red blobs on the lug ends?

Sorry, i do graphics for a living. :shakes head:

FairladyZ10PG 04-10-2014 12:15 PM

^sorry...I should've said ms paint lol

Waiz 04-10-2014 12:33 PM

Red lugs = pink lugs after 3 months

I say just run a set of black lugs and call it a day

edconline 04-10-2014 12:35 PM

That's true only if the red is on the lugs themselves. The red plastic caps for the R40 Revo's are true red and they should hold the colour a lot longer. Even if they do fade eventually, easy and cheap to replace them

edconline 04-11-2014 11:33 AM

LOL. The Kics R40 Revo version come with black caps that are removable. The red caps sold separately.

Unless you meant that what the hell were they thinking with that shade of red. I'm inclined to agree. Because they are plastic, I might get a rattle can mixed up of red that is an exact match to my calipers and respray the caps to match. Maybe do the valve stem caps as well as they are a slightly off shade of red too.

nono, red is fine, just wasnt sure wat those plastic bits were. :icon17:

so they screw into the open end of the lug? they are threaded 12x1.25 pitch?
that'd be kinda cool if i could screw them into my muteki's.

edconline 04-11-2014 12:57 PM

They clip in, there is a little metal lip inside of the end of the R40's that retains them. Unfortunately that means they would likely not work in another lug.
