How long can I store new tires for?
 

I'm gonna be replacing my stock potenzas pretty soon as they are at almost 2/32". There's no problem storing new tires for a month or two as long as they are in a cool, dry, dark place correct? Or should I just wait til I'm ready to replace them and then order them? I'm guessing it wouldn't make any difference. I just wanted to get my new PSS's here so I can stare at them for a few minutes every day :roflpuke2:

They'll store just fine as long as they're out of the sunlight, cool and dry.

5 years from mfg date is the life of tires. You can check the date on the tire. I'm not sure if it varies from mfg, but you can google where it would be on your certain tire

wat DE and others said. keep the tire in a cool dry place away from sunlight.

From my experience you can store for up to 15 minutes..............

Make sure you lay them down flat, best to put something like a piece of card board in between each tire but that is if you desire, out of sunlight and in as cool and dry of a place as possible. Although I have stored tires in my garage which during the summer is far from cool and they were fine a year later.

If you are storing them for only a month or two, it will be hard to go wrong as long as you keep them out of the weather. With the weight of the car gone, storing the tires upright for 1-2 months shouldn't be a big deal. Unless you leave them out in the desert, sunlight shouldn't be a big factor for something that spends a good portion of its time outside in normal use. But, yeah, if you're spending good money on tires, cool, dry, dark, and flat (horiz) is the way to go.
