Rubber to prevent rash

We all know that well placed rubber can prevent rash in many instances. I was wondering if the advice I received before going off to college applied to my wheels. That is, will a wider tire help prevent curb rash by extended past the edge of the rim (I don't want to have to pay for a rim job)? I ask specifically in regards to the 19" Rays. Will a beefy tire help spare my wheels from curb rash?

No plans to do so, just one of those "I was wondering..." kinds of questions. There is the issue of my wife's driving, which is largely done with at least two wheels on the sidewalk (if not all four).

I think it would. To a point.

Haha I'd say they will though cause my mom curbs her car all the time but all tire never wheel. So Buffy tire will help out to a point.

I have a 265/295 setup on Rays, and it looks as if it would prevent curb rash. I have yet to test it though

If you cared, you'd go test it for me. This is your chance to step up.
