Dealership Informs Me.....

that the new wheels dont really shine like chrome. they are brighter than the stock wheels, but not as bright as chrome. the Nissan brochure plainly states they are "CHROME" wheels, and if i get over there tonight and they arent anywhere near as shiny as chrome i am going to be ticked off. most on here said they are actually Polished Aluminum, and are pretty much the same as chrome. but again, the salesman told me they dont shine like chrome.

if i dont like them and dont think they were worth the $1,900 and i dont think they shine like chrome, do i have any options here? my buddy told me it might be a good thing since bright, shiny chrome on a 370Z might be a little cheesy, sort of teenie boppish.

i will wait to make the final judgement until i see the car tonight.

Everyone here told you it looks cheesy and overall just bad on a 370z. If you go to check them out, take some pictures because in the advertisements they clearly look very shiny as if chromed. It would be interesting to see what they really look like.

Your buddy is absolutely right...sadly I'm going to try to be useful here. You can argue with the dealer that the product you received does not at all match the product you ordered. If it is a completely different product then it has been misrepresented and you can't be forced to accept delivery. So you do have options...

Please don't put chrome on your 370...chrome is tacky and usually used by people with no taste...listen to your friend he is trying to help you.

no, not everyone said that. some said it would look really good.

i guess as long as they shine more than the stock wheels that will be fine. and again, just perhaps, if they arent quite as shiny as chrome then that could be a good thing.

i'll try and get some pics......

Are you talking about the optional 19"s? If so here's some pics:

Teenie boppish? Nah, even those kids wouldn't rock chrome wheels.

yeah, thats them. i like the looks of them here. hope they look ok on the Monterey Blue 370Z that i will be driving in about 4 hours....:tiphat:

Mike

p.s. and again, NOT everyone said chrome was bad. some said it would look good. i happen to agree.

Caravanshaka 08-27-2009 12:15 PM

I've seen these on a Blue 370 and didn't care for them. A local dealership got stuck with a fully loaded Z that had these instead of the Rays since it was for the big city car show originally. So they were selling it without the better Rays wheels, and it looked quite a bit worse IMO.

Well, even in the pictures you can tell those wheels don't shine like chrome. They shine like...well...polished aluminum!

well, again, that might be good. i'll know in about 90 minutes. and again, the 370Z brochure plainly stated "Chrome Wheels" in the back.

i am sure they will look fine.

Mike

Caravanshaka 08-27-2009 02:08 PM

are they giving you the original wheels too, since you paid for both?

Snakebite202 08-28-2009 07:34 AM

Pictures yet?

Minicobra1 08-28-2009 07:55 AM

I like the design of the wheel, but not as much as the 19" sport or factory Nismo.
Not really into the polished/chromed finish, but these would look good powdercoated black.

yes, they are going to EBay the original wheels and tires. the salesman told me that the wheels alone run $3400 through Nissan. so the wheels and tires are probably worth around $4000. however, i am sure you can find them cheaper than that through internet sites, so i think he is going to list them on EBay starting at around $1200 i believe. i have a buddy thats offered me $750 for them, guess i can bite the bullett and sell them to him if they dont sell on EBay.

and i got the car home last night. those polished aluminum wheels look fine. i'll try and get some pics.

Those are hideous. Chrome wheels should be no where near the 370.
