Someone please tell me all will be in okay in the world?
Going to take my wheel to a local professional rim repair shop this Tuesday. Can I get some early reassurance that my wheel will look like brand new again?:eek: F*** 'n bank....I feel like ****... |
You will now die a slow and painful death

Lol. That really is a curb rape, not rash... But they should be able to make it 95%+ as good as new. Don't worry.
Might cost $100~. Wouldn't pay much more than that though. |

They said it will be $125. Keep it for the day. |

I assume they're going to weld more metal then and shave it down? |
you should just leave it like that in my opinion if it's just cosmetic and isn't a safety or performance issue
cars have to face the elements outside so don't expect stuff to always look brand new and if it happens again? then you'll have to fix it again |
looks like it's just a rash. no big deal. as long as it's not bent out of whack, you're fine.

Must be confident shop and they are crazy busy too. I talked to him Wednesday last week and his earliest opening was this Tuesday. We will see. I want it fixed nonetheless. |
Being a base wheel I wouldnt even fix it....just put that $125 towards new rims and be more careful....
use these for winter tires/wheels if you live in a winter area |
I won't be getting new wheels for at least three years. I think the stock wheels are awesome. Its worth it for 3 years wouldn't you say?

No there a step up from base wheels the base wheels don't have that split spoke design it's just a solid 5 spoke
|
These are Base wheels for 2013+ 370Z, the 2009-2012 have the solid 5 spoke.
|
That isn't really all that bad. Second day I had mine, I ruined my passenger side skirt... But I know how you must feel. Hope it gets all better :)
|
|
I'd say pay the money and get it fixed. I doubt you could live with it looking like that. I occasionally see a random 2013 wheel on ebay but you would be looking at 400 or so for the wheel + labor costs for tire swapping.
|
Dude if I were you I would not spend the money or time getting that wheel fixed!! I would use the money for a new set of wheels. :stirthepot:

Things always happen in threes so expect a dent in the rear quarter and a rock chip on the windshield soon.

You'll feel better once you get it fixed. That sucks though.

OP I know the feeling, my first trip to NY for a install in my 3 months old altima I rashed the wheels pulling into a parking space. I was so pissed.

How do you people rash rims like that...you all drive like my wife. She drove one of my cars for 1 week and managed to rash the rims. I've driven that car for 6 yrs and not once single scratch, took her 1 week maybe even less! I didn't know uintil I washed the car.
She even rashed the rims on my WRX, and she barely drives......This is why she will never drive my Z! |
Word brotha. I thought about the same thing. Perhaps some people just lack situational awareness, respect for other property, or both. Just unfortunate.
|
...I use my stock wheels for the winter and I have the older base model wheels. If i curb them I wouldnt even think twice about it. No one really cares about stock wheels; its all about the aftermarket wheels...
Another option you could have taken would of been to just have them dipped. Make them a different color other than plain silver and you wouldnt really be able to tell they were curbed...$40 max for the supplies... |
^^ I don't know about that. I still care about my stock Rays even if I'm not really a big fan of the design.

Regarding Curb rash - I think another thing to take into consideration is where you drive. When I was living in the south (Atlanta + northern burbs GA)we had wide streets and strip mall parking everywhere. Nobody parked on the street so no curb rash. I move to a big city where on street parking is the norm and behold the evil curb rash appears more frequently.
On the bright side for the OP at least you didn't curb a super nice aftermarket rim. Hey another option for you is don't get the wheel fixed. Don't worry about curbing the others and take them to get powercoated/repaired in a few years. |
