Cross Rotate

I have 2012 370Z Sports Package with S4's. The guy at Discount said they could be cross rotated to improve wear. Your thoughts?

You could if you were running a square setup.

I think he means flip floppin the TIRES only from side to side.

OP, do it, I'd wait to get to 3-4/32nds on the inside, then flip flop.
(Or about twice as much on the outside as on the inside, but do it in such a way that the whole tire will be bald at once)

L/R Flip

Yes I meant flip flop. I got these tires 5K ago. Unless I start to see an obvious sign I am going to wait. If the inside starts looking bad I will do it.

I heard tales of reversing direction of a tire can cause balancing and vibration issues.

:icon17: dont bother. just drive it non-rotated. all you'll gain is a few thousand miles at best and roadnoise.

if your tires are asymetrical you can just swap wheels left and right without dismounting the tire from the wheel, obviously.

you shouldn't be driving directional symetrical tires on this car anyway since it has so much neg camber to begin with. asymetrical tires have special reinforcement belts on the inner treads for cars like ours.

A few thousand miles per set of tires over the life of the car is a substantial savings.

Some of us actually drive our cars ;)

I am sorry. :rofl2:

I flip flopped, insides had 2-3/32nds, outsides had 6-7/32nds. Got an extra at LEAST 5k out of them, and I'm still driving on them. Not bad investment wise for $40 with Nitrogen fill

I usually get rid of a car once the tires need replacing. Of course, I put the original wheels and tires back on before selling/trading.

However, I've probably gone through 12 or more sets on the Z in the last 4 years!

yah, but you can't do that on asymetrical tires. there's only one "outside" :icon17:

so i dont bother swapping them around. when i swap wheels (when i feel like it), i put masking tape on the back of the spokes labeling which corner i pulled it off from, and put it in the same corner when i swap back. :)
