chrischhorn 10-09-2013 01:38 AM

what is PSS mean?
i only use for daily driving and maybe some time do some donut i live in florida so here is no snow at all only lot of rain

NickTurnon 10-09-2013 09:34 AM

I have falken 452s in the rear - Had Ventus v4's from previous owner

Don't know how the Michelins drive like, but the falkens aren't bad for the price. I put a ton of miles on my car and like to use my rear tires often if you know what I mean

Haha goodluck!

PSS = Michelin Pilot Super Sports (one of the more popular tires for the Z).

I like my Nitto Invos for their performance in the rain

I believe I paid $156 a tire from Discount for the Falkens for 275s.
The front's (Pirelli's P Zero) cost $30 more a tire and are only 245s.

I'm not saying they are a GREAT tire, since I dont have much tire experience. But they are definitely worth the price for the grip. And i don't really hear them, so that is also a plus.

NickTurnon 10-09-2013 12:23 PM

You have 19's. So your tires are gunna be more expensive then mine. (18's).

I found my Falken 452s online for $122 from this website. They sell the 19's for $186

my pss worn out so fast. only 4ishK miles and few donut and the rear tires both gone really bad

JARblue 10-09-2013 01:09 PM

Unless your alignment is off, you must be roasting the $hit out of your tires to only get 4K miles out of the PSS. My recommendation is don't waste your money on PSS if you're going to continue to do that.

Nankangs are pretty cheap and really crappy :ugh2:

Your alignment may be way out, particularly the toe since it doesn't look like camber wear. Lowered without camber arms and toe bolts?

phohman 10-09-2013 01:50 PM

You will have a hard time finding PSS of certain sizes. I have been waiting for 2 months for one rear replacement 285/35/19 Called Tirerack and Michelin. Michelin said they are not making any til Nov. National backorder:icon14:

What do you guys think of Accelera Phi All-Season Tire? Fronts $80.75 Rear $101.25

Seen Here:http://www.onlinetires.com/user/vehi...ds/page_1.html

Chuck33079 10-09-2013 02:27 PM

No name brand? Super cheap? What could go wrong? I've never heard of a single brand on that page. Am I living under a rock?

NickTurnon 10-09-2013 02:28 PM

I think you will get what you pay for with those... $102 for a tire is like buying a used tire.

Go with a brand people know about and have reviewed

1st 10-09-2013 02:33 PM

I know I plan on going name brand but found that super odd and extremely cheap had to share.

LOL, you just reinforced what we are trying to say. If its ODD or hard to believe, its generally fake or flawed.

I won't even suggest you try them out and report back to us, because I don't want to hear about a blowout on the freeway in a 370z and I also don't want you to get hurt.

Very odd. You know you've hit the bottom of the "cheap Chinese tire" barrel at that point. :rofl2: I'm all about saving money, but there's a point where it doesn't make sense. I'd sooner roll into my local vato tire shop and get a set of the "Cobras" they're advertising. Although I doubt they come in less than a 22" size.

i have PSS front and rear but i was playing donut in the parking lot yesterday for around 5~10 minutes and my rear tires is bad so i just bought two new rear tires from falken instead of PSS. so i will have 2 PSS in the front and 2 falken in the rear

Are you sure it's from playing donut? Maybe is because alignment off? Did lower the car without camber kit?

Waiz 10-09-2013 04:40 PM

This is now my go-to tire

Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....za+RE760+Sport

Doesn't cost an arm and a leg and is plenty grippy for street use

I have run way more expensive tires like the MPSS and have found that the RE760's have similar grip levels and so far have been wearing well anything more
expensive is just overkill IMO

snizzle 10-09-2013 10:38 PM

great discussion since im in for new tires in the next few weeks too.

Mismatched tires are no good as far as I've heard. You will have stability issues

Who is mismatching tires? And who told you that having 2 fronts and 2 rears that are different causes stability issues?

Saying you will have problems is a bit extreme. Depending on the tires and their condition, you may or may not have stability issues. In general, this is not recommended, but it's not necessarily unsafe. I changed out my rears from OEM to Nitto Invo after <10K miles. I got over 20K on the front tires before switching all four tires to Nitto Invo the next change. They did absolutely fine, even in the rain. The biggest concern is the tread patterns cause havoc with the way that the tires shed water. The front treads could possibly make the rear tires more likely to hydroplane.

The OP is running PSS all around right now. He's looking to swap out the rears and continue running PSS in the front.

The OP with PSS fronts and another brand rears? I can't see it being too bad in a straight line, but it could be odd in turns if the fronts and rears have drastically different levels of grip. It's all a moot point if his alignment is out and killing his tires and the wear isn't just from playing donut.
