About how many miles can I put on the spare tire?

One of my rear tires needs to be replaced, so I put my spare on. I wanted to shop around for some Pilot Super Sports, how long do I have on the spare?

Flame suit on?

I'm currently out of town and will need to order the tires. So I figured putting about 500 miles on the spare would be fine...

Why does the rear need replacing, hole? I thought spares are usually supposed to be used for 50-100

I would not drive too long on a spare, it is meant as a temporary replacement

That being said, I drove around for a week with one on and didn't really have any problems

I don't mileage is important for spare tyre, but speed is VERY important, cannot exceed 80km/h.[50mph].

Only if you place it on the right rear

JARblue 07-03-2013 03:52 PM

I agree with Ken. 50 mph max for sure. I wouldn't be comfortable on it more than 50 miles either.

I remember in my younger years I forgot I had a spare on the front of my 350z and I decided to open it up on the highway and go 135MPH and realized oops spare tire on.... I now have the record in Guiness book for speed on a spare! Lol

Cbtech 07-03-2013 04:09 PM

most spares are under more pressure than a regular tire and are built like a trailer tire.

You can buy a trailer tire at Home Depot....
