Run-flat tires
 

Hi Everyone,

I am in the process of replacing all four tires on my 2010 Nissan 370Z Roadster Touring.

I would like to replace my current OEM set with run-flat tires. What brand name and model do you all recommend?

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

No,don't put "Run-flat" tyres,it is very heavy,can cause the car runs slower,drinks more fuel,also the ride will be even harsher due to stiff sidewall,also more expensive,that's why many BMW owners change to normal 'tubeless' tires..when their 'Run-flat' are due to change.

This is all true. Most Corvette owner go with different tires when the time comes up for new ones. Not all places that change tires and wheels can or will work on them. This is coming from experience from the several Corvettes that I have owned in the Past.

Yeah, dude, don't do run flats. My wife has them on her Mini Countryman (with a lot more sidewall) and the ride is harsher than the Z. They beat the crap out of you. I can't wait until she wears the damn things out and gets regular tires. I can't imagine them on the Z - you might as well just mount some rocks on there.

*Besides, I'm pretty sure you have to have wheels that are designed for run-flats. You can put regular tires on run flat wheels, but not the other way around.

Just pick up a $5 plug kit from a local auto parts store. That's the only real benefit and you'd still plug run flats anyway.

Run-flats, eh? Couple of warrants out there maybe? US Marshalls on your heels?

That is the answer.

If the issue is you don't have a spare to switch to if you get a flat, you be best off getting a battery powered inflator and a repair kit to get you home.

Run flats will cost you a lot more and be uncomfortable the whole time you have them.

I really appreciate your advise on whether or not to purchase run-flat tires. I will certainly stay away from them and purchase regular OEM Bridgestones, if still available for our vehicles.

They are but there are better tires for cheaper......

May I ask, "Why stick with OEM tires?".

the bridgestone s-04 are dirt cheap on tire rack right now :tiphat:

I just like replacing car components with OEM parts, if available. I feel that the manufacturer knows what will work the best, and what will not work the best with their vehicles.

They don't, they just get tires for cheap.
Swap them for like Michelin PSS's and you'll relove your car.
I don't know much about the S-04's but almost anything is better than stock

In 2010, when I joined this site I bought a 2010 Nissan Versa as my daily driver vehicle. Then four (4) months later, I special ordered and bought a 2010 Nissan 370z Roadster Touring vehicle as my weekend vehicle.

In summary, I have never gotten around to update the vehicle that I drive specifically for this site, hence you see listed that I drive a Nissan Versa.

Terrible tires. like stated by people here already:
They are more expensive and heavier. And worst yet. if you get a flat and use the tire the tire will actually sacrifice itself in order to keep rolling.
So if you don't realize you got a flat in time and keep using it you are going to have to buy a new one!
This is unacceptable to me. I can see how some women might like the convenience of run flats. But it's otherwise a terrible value proposition, not to mention inferior in performance.
