Opinions please? (TE37SL vs G25)

I was set on the TE37SLs but I'm still holding back for 2 main reasons. 1. I'm not a fan of dark coloured wheels, I don't know how dark they look in person but I prefer the mercury silver colour. 2. I'm starting to feel like TE37s are a little played out. Volks aren't cheap so I figured I want to make the best purchase possible, one I would not regret. The G25s have a modern design, but lack that "classic" look. On my white car, I'd use red calipers for the TE37SLs or burnt orange calipers on the G25s. (They will go on an Amuse'd 370z)

Thoughts?

I would go with the G25s but I may be biased. :P

I'm a fan of the G25's also. The TE's kinda don't shine in my eyes the way they use to

Caustic 02-09-2013 11:35 PM

Hmm, tough one. I think the 370 benefits from a wider spoke design, but I agree, the TE37's are a little tired. Seen them on so many cars for too many years.

But if I were to get new wheels for a 370, I would get these:

But pricey and only in 20". :(

 Those look amazing! Not a fan that they only come in 20's either.

if I could afford these wheels..I would get them!

Amuse370z 02-10-2013 12:01 AM

Damn, I wish I created a poll for this.

The TEs have a classic, timeless design that I think I were to ever sell them I would have no problem doing so. But the G25s...

Jasonle 02-10-2013 12:12 AM

Man get those TEs!

That's sexy on white!

Zrider79 02-10-2013 12:38 AM

Wow te's hands down, but hey go wit what makes you wanna keep looking at her.

Zrider79 02-10-2013 12:41 AM

just buy a set of both te's and g25 and which ever set you dont like ill take :) hahah

all seriousness I would go for the g25 very fresh design.

nabenson 02-10-2013 08:32 PM

I think it depends on the look you are going for. The Volks are my preference, but I hate the single colored spoke like that black/red car.

Osiris 02-10-2013 08:32 PM

I may be biased because i have the TE37's, but i like them both. Do you have any pics with the G25's on a Z? As far as being played out, there is a reason, the TE37's look F'ing good on the Z. So unless there are a lot of Z's in your area with them, then you should be unique. The SL's are also light weight...i'm not familiar with the G25's so i'm not sure how they compare. Personally, i looked at hundreds of pics of Z's and wheels and did photoshops before i made my decision. I think the two you have suggested are both good for the Z, maybe get someone to photoshop them with the same color as your Z.

Also, if you have a White Z, the F-Zero blue TE37's would look so bad A$$.

Exactly, the G25s are very modern in design, I think yellow/orange calipers with cross/drilled rotors would pop behind them. Example:

It doesn't do the rims justice though, because it isn't dropped, it is not the colour that I want, and doesn't have the Akebono set up.

Osiris 02-10-2013 10:16 PM

also, IMO, silver lips or a silver ring on the outside makes a dark or black wheel look smaller than it actually is. I'm not sure if the G25's come with that, but would look better without.

The G25s come with that but I agree, I just don't like black wheels in general. The new colour by Rays on the other hand..

I vote for the G25's since you will be the only one with them

The SL's are a very good wheel though so you really can't go wrong with either

Osiris 02-11-2013 07:58 AM

Yea, the G25's look better in silver. Here's some other Rays wheels that look similar that are also nice:

hahaha, just realized you're the one that posted them!

kenchan 02-11-2013 09:25 AM

i'd do the G25's if lightweight. they look more modern. TE37's are nice but kind of a dated look imho. the premium price, quality, and brand name forces people to accept as a timeless piece though. i dont play that game.

TheGreatOne 02-11-2013 09:40 AM

hmmm, tuff choice.

You know you can't "go wrong" with the TE37...timelss as others have mentioned, maybe dated but its definitely the "safe" choice.

G25 does look fresh, new, and most likely less of them on Z's. Will you tire of it though? while the TE37 might be dated, I don't think it will ever get "old" for me and I'll love looking at them.

I am a fan of the TE37 obviously, it would be my preference but I think you are looking for something different so for you I say, do G25

FairladyZ10PG 02-12-2013 08:41 PM

The new color is called prism dark silver.

Unfortunately, the offsets are not for our z's and not concave either.:shakes head:

Yup by default cant go wrong with them:tup:

Join the crowd ;)

TE37s really are timeless though, can't go wrong. In all honesty though...I kind of wish I kept my CE28s since nobody runs them anymore.

JollyGoodChap 02-14-2013 11:49 AM

I like the look of the G25 better for the370z personally.

These come in 19s now BUT the offsets are weak. Advan need to step it up for their 19 inch wheel offsets... The 20 inch offsets for the rear are decent but the front will need a spacer to look decent.

To the OP, TE37 is a timeless wheel I have had 3 sets... Try a bolder color maybe Mag Blue? Or Red?

I debated the same thing before I bought my TE37SLs. The TE37SLs are super lightweight, between the wheel and tire combo I was able to shave 7 lbs off each corner compared to the stock set up. That gave me a noticeable increase in performance.

If you're not concerned with that aspect it depends on your image goals. The TE37s are not really showy. They are a classic design that makes your car look all business. I suppose a colored version would be a bit more showy, but it looks like a race wheel for a reason. I have matt black ones, and they don't photograph well (always look like a black whole) but in person they look great. And I was never a fan of black wheels before I bought these.

The G25s, while still a performance wheel, look a lot more showy. They will get you more attention from people who don't realize what Volk TE37s are.

If you want a car that looks like it leans more toward "go" then I would get the TE37SLs.
If you want a car that looks like it leans more toward "show" then get the G25s.

Either way it's a good problem to have and you can't really go wrong.

+1 for Volks

Amuse370z 05-17-2013 07:35 PM

I'm going for the SLs. Was quoted $4500 CAD all-in, no wait time, before any negotiating, so I should be able to get a slightly better deal than that.

If vendors can beat that, message me and we'll work something out.
