Question for those who went from 18" to 19"...

I wanted to know from those of you that made the switch from stock 18" wheels to 19" if you noticed a performance drop?

I know the 19" wheel fits and looks better but personal experience in my previous sports car (02 996TT) which came with stock 18" wheels was not great. After one year of ownership (996tt) I decided to upgrade my wheels to 19" and immediately noticed a drop in performance at all speeds and gears. It got so annoying I sold them 6 months later and purchased some nice 18" aftermarket wheels.

Keep in mind my car was pushing 500hp with my small upgrades (chip & exhaust) and I still was not happy with the performance drop when I switched the wheels.

Let me know your thoughts.

Im curious as well but I think we all know the answer will be yes in every case. The stock 18's are very light wheels.

Come on guys... Let's here some feedback :hello:

How about just reply:

Agree = Yes.. When I made the change I felt the performance drop.

Nah = Not really... When I made the change did not feel a big difference.

So how about that... just say "Agree" or "Nah".

Your feedback counts

I am more interested in what "small mods" made 500 hp.

Bolded for you. He was referring to his previous car that the mods gave him 500 hp.

both of the rims weigh about the same at 23lbs. Difference is you are getting a 275 with the 19's vs a 245 with the 18's so you should have more traction on turns and on go. I think overall weight might be a little heavier with tires but i dont think it will be much. I went from 20" advans that weighed 23 lbs with 285's down to stock 18's and notice its easier to spin the tires of course which is fun for me. But turns and traction have gone down significantly. Acceleration feel the same, maybe a tad bit quicker hard to tell.

You wont notice a performance drop as long as you buy quality wheels that don't weigh a ton. No offense but 18's look like **** on the 370, especially the stock ones. Get it done already u won't regret it....

Agreed

Primary for me was looks. Just shop for lighter ones such as Forgestar or Enkie

I actually like them especially if the car is dropped, they dont look so small then. Only thing is I hate how sunk in they are so I want to buy more and run rears up front with spacers in the back. 20's were too big for my taste. I think 19's are a perfect size but tires are way cheaper in 18's.
