17" rims

What offset of 17x9 and 17x10 rims would be compatible with the 370z?

enkei2k 11-04-2012 06:37 PM

those would be super tiny looking. why would you do that?

Since the sport rays are

19x9 +47
19x10 +30

I would assume the same offsets would fit, no?

I dunno :) that's why I asked.

Thank you though.

It will be tricky to clear the Akebonos with any set of 17's... even if the offset is otherwise acceptable, there may simply not be enough room to clear the limited space behind the spokes, so they'll rub at minimum. A wheel with a very flat or fairly convex face, maybe?

Is anyone on here running 17's?

SmallermouseZ 11-04-2012 10:31 PM

Never seen a Z under 18s

rli2bcz 11-04-2012 11:36 PM

17's? really?

Vichtz 11-04-2012 11:41 PM

go for it haha, like a hot wheels car. But like they said, diameter may not be enough. Base on the other hand...

Waiz 11-05-2012 01:27 AM

Unless these are for winter wheels there is no reason to run such a small size

Osiris 11-05-2012 05:02 PM

pretty sure 17's won't clear the calipers.

KORRUPT 11-05-2012 05:41 PM

I had a set of 17" rims as my winter wheels on my old g35 but they didn't fit over brakes on the 370 so I don't think thats the way to go.

binary0x01 11-05-2012 05:45 PM

Alright, that's good to know guys. Thanks for the info.

BTW, as a matter of weight savings, I think the right 17's could also look great on the car, but strictly from the standpoint of fitment, I know of none that definitely clear the Akebonos without at least rubbing.

Doesn't mean there aren't any though.

I think you need to measure the backspacing behind the 19's and see what wiggle room you have with smaller wheels.

you might also check Grassroots Motor Sports or the Autox forums here to see if anyone has found a set that fits. If it can be done, I'm, sure someone is doing it.

Otherwise, you'll have better luck finding a set of light 18's that will fit.

:icon18:

One very good reason: Driver is looking to find the smallest size wheel possible in order to achieve the tallest tire sidewall for drag racing.

I'm researching the same subject, which brought me to this thread.

Definitely going to visit evasive motorsports and have them try to fit the wheels on my base Z which has base breaks. Then going to get all the measurements so that when I upgrade the breaks I'll be able to see what custom breaks I'd need to clear the wheels. Personally think the 17"s are gonna look cherry.

DEpointfive0 08-02-2014 04:40 PM

So... 2 years in and you still wanna try?

Why 17" though?
