19inch wheel upgrade from the 18inch Base model wheels question

i have the nissan 370z base model 18inch rims without syncrorev. the dealer said if i went to 19inch wheels, my traction control won't work. is this true and is there a fix around this?

I believe, it will still work. It just won't work efficiently because, supposedly, it's optimize for OEM/stock hardware. Personally, for street driving, you probably won't see it working. On the other hand, if you track the car, you can upgrade your wheels, you just have to keep it stock size tires and wheel size. If someone can chime in, that would clarify some things as I'm not 100% sure about this. So, I can use the info, too, since I'm upgrading my wheels.

It will work fine. You are maintaining the same overall diameter for the wheel+tire, so as far as the ECU is concerned, nothing will be different -- speed will be read the same from the speed and ABS sensors, and traction control should work normally as well. The synchro rev match should have nothing to do with it.

I agree and Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought most traction device is measured through the Abs/reluctor ring. Why would the dealer tell you ur Vdc won't work if u upgrade ur wheels?

Based on that, the best option to keep that stock ratio are 245/40/19 and 285/35/19 ????

The width of the tire is variable - for instance, a 305/30/r19 would work fine. As long as you maintain the overall diameter by +/- 2%, you should be fine.

Go to a dealer that knows what he's talking about. This one doesn't.
