Finally purchased Pilot Super Sport!!

Well, I somehow managed to get 32K miles out of my stock tires. After much research, I decided to go with the super sports. All I can say is....WOW! My favorite thing about them is there is virtually no tire noise. I can finally hear my FI exhaust! Haha. As for the way they feel on the road...grip is amazing. It is def one of the best mods you can do for the price range. Also drove it in rain today, and it performed great! Would recommend these to anyone.

Did you stick to stock size.?

kfull 10-22-2012 07:06 PM

Already done! Haha. Took a three hour drive in the back roads yesterday. Weather was perfect. I also have the option to take the back roads home from work -- which I plan on doing frequently now :happydance:

Need to get myself these tires.

red6spd 10-22-2012 09:45 PM

I love mine, totally worth the money.

speedfreek 10-29-2012 08:44 PM

32k on stock tires? What the hell am I doing wrong? I am just over 7k miles on mine and the outermost edge are nearly gone!

There is no way I will get anywhere near 32k. I will be lucky to squeeze out 15k miles on them.

AMG091 10-29-2012 08:48 PM

Amazing tires, very nice choice

speedracer007 10-30-2012 12:55 PM

Good to know. Only 925 miles on my Z right now, so I hope I am a couple years away from needing tires.

I'll love you forever if you upload some pics

Mind telling us how much $$$ they set you back? I just crossed 28K on my stocks, and they aren't gonna make it much further, either.

Oh, and I agree...pics would be cool, too!

:icon14: I only got 17,000 out of my stockers and it was driven conservatively... the fronts were still good however.

MY deal for the PSS's fell thru and I ended up with Hankook Ventus V12's which are a good second choice.

roy'sz 10-31-2012 01:17 PM

Which michelin super sports....the all season with 540 treadwear rating or the softer ones? I have on more set of rears to go through before I have to fork over the cash for all 4. Also guys tire rack saves you a lot of $bread$ when it comes to tires.

Captainstevo 11-12-2012 05:00 AM

I will try and post pics soon! They set me back $1450, installed included. The price of the tires were $1350 I believe. I could've gotten them a little cheaper off of Tire Crawler, but I'm good friends with a guy at a local shop, so I wanted to support them.

I've seen a large range of stock tire life on here. I'm assuming unless you already have an alignment problem that it's just driving style? It def would have been harder for me to justify spending a ton of money on PSS's had I only gotten 15K out of my stockers! Haha

Z-Girl 12 11-12-2012 08:37 AM

32k on stockers? Wow!!! I will definitely need new tires in the spring, dreading it. But feedback like this always helps. Thanks!

guru 11-12-2012 04:52 PM

pictures of pss's, the tires are amazing. i have 3 track events on mine and they still have bite.

Too much toe. Your tires are probably feathered.

Nope. Evenly worn. Just worn out....

guru 11-12-2012 11:53 PM

what is it with u guys and polished toes? do u think those fred flinstone's belong to a woman? :icon17:

Captainstevo 11-13-2012 05:17 AM

Thanks for the pics, guru! Nice door handles as well. I'm going to be painting mine this winter.

And yea.....those feet do not belong to a female...at least I hope. :rofl2:

gaveup 11-13-2012 03:40 PM

These have 300 tread wear right?

I've always wondered about tread wear. I always assumed a lower number would equal better traction no? I should probably read up on this more.

At 15k my rears (base advan sports) are basically gone. I am looking for new tires and passed these over because I can't see them gripping nearly as well as stock (given treadwear).

I am looking at these:
Ratings, reviews and specifications for Yokohama ADVAN Neova AD08 tires

Would these perform much better than PSS?

guru 11-13-2012 04:23 PM

I have driven a sport with stock tires and they are no way near as good as the pss's. I am also getting the ad08's next but i'm ok with only getting 10000 miles on a set of tires

JohnsZ 11-16-2012 01:53 PM

I just got my PSS about a week ago after much research. So far I really like them on my '09 370Z but honestly don't see that much difference from the Potenzas that were on them from the factory. They seem a little softer which provides a more comfy ride but seem a little cushy especially taking a turn at higher than posted speed limits. As far as road noise is concerned, a little better than the Potenzas but not much. Lets face it, riding in the driver's or passenger's seat of the Z is really like riding in the trunk so road noise is pretty much guaranteed. I'll see how the PSS do over time. Overall, I'm not disappointed I bought them.

Comparison Potenza to PSS for Sport Rims. I tend to over analyze. Have run PSS for over a year- great tire
