wow!! Looks great!! Year old post but deserves a bump!
|
I have been mulling this over for weeks now. I am doing it for sure. Not so much the orangey red but the powder coating. I love the emblems too. I cant think of a colour with PG that would look great except black. Thanks again

Car looks FANTASTIC! Big congratulations! Im currently in the middle of blacking out my Z, wasnt really sure what to do about the center caps on the rays. Will any sort of body shop paint them for me?

Black and Orange (reflective tape)
Hey Phimosis,
I know this was years ago for you, but I thought you might be interested to see how I approached the black and orange 370Z... http://www.the370z.com/members/make-...-new-black.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/make-...nother-one.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/make-...iew-mirror.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/make-...lacked-out.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/make-...razy-night.jpg I went with reflective tape as it easily peels off and it looks crazy at night! The pictures don't do it justice...check out "glow cars" on youtube if interested in seeing it in action! Interested to hear what you think? Cheers, Brendan |
The reflective tape makes it pop, I really like it. As opposed to getting new rims, I would consider doing something like this on my 19" rays.

Reflective Tape
I'm pumped to hear you like like!
Below are the YouTube videos that sold me on the idea. Gives a slightly better representation of what the end product's capable of... Orange: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fITc3BTgmBw This one has a bunch of different colours, including the red which looks sick too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=blEI-64G6ZM Here is the website for these guys: Kustom Kings 916 The product I recommend is called Illumaglow. Ask for Edgar and tell him Brendan from T.O. sent you. They will likely send you a roll that they can cut strips into for rims etc. You can then just cut out the parts you need to tape items with. If you have complicated parts, like the red inserts, I would recommend either sending the pieces to them to do, or have a local wrapping shop do it for you. Let me know what you end up doing and be sure to send me pics! Cheers, Brendan |

I like colors that make a car "pop". And this definitely does that. I sold my 370Z in 2013 and got a 911 4S. This time I used paint instead of powdercoat because it was easier to make it happen and because all of the pieces matched with the same color. I used House of Kolor neon blue. It is a fluorescent blue painted over chalk white. It glows under black light and during daytime sun has an iridescent quality that no other paint has. http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k3...ads/image1.jpg http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k3...ads/image2.jpg same style as what I did with the 370z, but a new color and a new technology! |
BOOM!
That's intense! I can't say I'm not surprised. That's wicked...right up my ally. Maybe in a few years I will try something like that too. The one thing about the tape, was its ability to take off easily, if I don't like it or wanted to sell the car. can't wait to see what you come up with next time! cheers, Brendan http://www.the370z.com/members/make-...mo-bumper.jpeg |
