Nankang Tires

Anyone heard of them, or used them? After getting only 12k out of my stock bridgestones, I gotta find something new. My dealer has these for $190 each for the 275/35/19. No track runs for me, I'm an old man, and drive the way most old guys do, with the occasional spirited run. My Z doesnt even know that rain falls on planet earth, so they are strictly for dry road. Anyone????

Tires

Performance or summer tires dont get a lot of mileage. So , just get a more normal rated tire for your driving. I like my Hankooks and Michellin Pilot Sports are great but once again , aperformance tire.

Your spirited drives won't feel so spirited, thats for sure!
lol...
Tires play a huge role in sports cars.
It's like a runner with wrong shoes...

Yah, stay away from inferior tires on ur sports car. Get minimum conti-DW. Other great choices are PSS, S04, and RE11.

well, the Nankangs are "Ultra High Performance" Zrated tires, so..... anyone with personal experience with them??

We have Nankang on my wife's BMW for summers, honestly, its not that bad at all, the price point is the most attractive. She wanted a cheap alternative to the run flats for summer. Actually a pretty quiet tire but a soft sidewall, not something she would pick up on.

HOWEVER I would not do my Z a dis service by putting Nankangs on it. Hankook V12 might be a good alternative for you. For what you say you do with the Z, Nankang's highest rated tire might be "adequate" but when it counts, I'd prefer to have a better tire...Hankook minimum or the ones Kenchan suggested

thanks for the replies

We have to say that tires like these are a hazard for cars that produce any significant power at the wheels.

We have had nothing but life threatening braking scares during which these tires do not grip at all

and life threatening turning scares where these tires do not grip at all

We recommend the Hankook EVO V12...They are extremely well priced and outperform everything in their price category and most tires that are much more expensive as well

We see them selling for around $230ish each
its a little more expensive, but you're talking about the only thing holding your car to the ground...thats the last place you want to take a chance!!

they also last a decently long time

Nankang however is huge hazard to have on your car!!

+1 RE11 Too many good reviews

I personally like the Potenza compared to what i was using before

V12 people complain about the soft sidewall but enjoy the price

No...no they are not. A tire with a tread wear rating of 360-480 is no where near the Ultra High Performance category.

You bought a nice high performance sports car please treat it as such and put the proper tires on it.

RE-11's, PSS, PS2's, are some of the best street tires and the RE-11's aren't expensive at all and are amazing! (they (RE-11) are in the Ultra High Performance category)

RonRizz 07-06-2012 04:13 PM

I'm finding them at a wear of 200 , and Z rated with 19" tire. 275/35/zr19..........at discount tire direct...... I appreciate all the input, but I would really like to hear from someone with first hand knowledge of the tires, if there is anyone out there....................

RonRizz 07-23-2012 04:30 PM

Well, I went with the Nankang Ns2's on my tire guys recommendation...
Ultra HP Z rated tires under $200 each.
I have about 1000 miles on them thus far, and can honestly say I see no difference in handling from the stock potenzas, and I have pushed them hard to try to find a shortcoming.....
They are much quieter than the potenzas as well.
The biggest difference I can see is in the amount of tread between the 2 tires. The potenzas come new with 7/32 tread, the Nankangs are at 17/32...Quite a difference.. Time will tell as far as mileage is concerned, but I certainly hope they do better than the stock tires.

Nankangs are Chinese made and they make really good truck tyres ....... 'nuff said ...

I have these tires on my 300ZX Twin Turbo and they are great. (255-35-18, 285-30-18) No complaints so far. Great bang for the buck tire.

If they had them in Nismo sizes I would of got them for my 370Z.
