that too. Nissan paired up with bridgestone initially. they put half rated cheaper tires on the cars stock. shortly after purchase the owner has to come back to Nissan for tires and bridgestone gets another sell by Nissan putting the same ones back on.

most normal car buyers do 0 service themselves and typically go to the dealer of purchase for all the car's needs.

money making op for Nissan and whatever tire provider they pair with.

Yes,you are buying Nissan Fairlady, not Ferrari 458,tires given as OEM,are just average tyres.

kenchan 01-09-2015 11:11 PM

meh, modena's came with p-zero's which imo are crappy.

jay23 01-12-2015 08:46 PM

The PSS perform quite well in the rain.

They seem to be as good as the Pilot Sport 2 in the rain, which I thought was pretty good. I would highly recommend never to use summer tires in snow or even cold. At 40F they become quite rigid and dangerous. I would consider the Z undrivable in the snow with PSS's. Now stick a set of Blizzaks on it...

Not a fair comparison, Michelin probably makes the best all around tire for the street, no doubt. But the RE-11s are on a different level, RE-11s having much higher performance that is. I am writing based on experience, that is running both tires, not from a guy who knows a guy who spent 8 hours a day on the forum and never owned a car nor the tires :)

Both tires are expensive, unless you want stupid performance, you don't need either tire, you can get good tires for much less

Houston Z33 01-14-2015 07:11 AM

Michelin Pilot Super Sports are the only tires I've ever had that make a torrential downpour (a common occurrence in Houston during the non summer months.....all 3 of them) feel like I'm driving on dry ground, These tires are the phucking truth.

I'm thankful that the previous owner popped on a fresh set just before I bought the car, These are easily the best tires I've ever ridden on and nothing else will go on this Z.

I strayed from PSS.. painful lesson indeed. PSS all the way

Dwight Frye 01-16-2015 06:20 PM

I am on my second set of Pilot Super Sports. Got almost 27K miles out of the first set. They do have unbelievable grip, the car corners like it is on the proverbial rails. My passengers get all wide-eyed and then comment that they didn't even hear any tire squeal while they were hanging on for dear life :driving:

What do you guys think about 255/35/19 on the front and 295/30/19 for the rear for the PSS? I have the sport/touring rims and will I need spacers or anything like that?

no.

i'm on 265/305 RE-11s, stock suspension, no spacers, stock oem sport wheels.

no rub and they work perfectly.

CSGLEON 01-26-2015 07:07 PM

I have base with 18 inch wheels. I called discount tires and the guy said I need to keep the standard 225 on the front because of clearance, but If I wanted I could put the larger 285 on the back. Can that be done or should I just go with the matching set of 225 front and 245 on the back?

Chan Chee Hoe 01-27-2015 05:32 AM

Hmmm...HIs there a 285/40-18 tyre.?

onzedge 01-27-2015 05:55 PM

What are these, pray tell???

They arrived today at Colin and Taylor's shop awaiting my return home for installation this Friday. They are my third set...

Nice! I had to order my rears from some place in California through Discount Tire. Apparently, stock sized rears are scarce right now.

go wider. solves the scarcity problem. :tiphat:

btw your forum screen name is probably one of my favorites i've seen in the past few years most likely because rounders is one of my all time favorite movies

I know, but stock size is plenty for me. 265/305 was another $300 or so.

You're the first to make the connection. Malkovich is the man! Love that movie! "Check, check, check! He beat me...pay that man his money."

zpower86 02-11-2015 12:51 AM

Just bought the Pilot Super Sport's.

Stock Sport Package wheels (19" Rays), no spacers.

Front: 255/40 R19
Rear: 285/35 R19

Putting this in a calculator tells me the overall diameter increases 1.1% on the rears. And speedo will read 60, but I'll really be going 60.7 Mph. (reference)

Rafiton 02-11-2015 06:08 PM

There tires are awesome.

Im running
245-35-20 (f)
295-30-20 (r)

The rear tires was a pain to find. I had to order in Miami. The fronts were easy, but the rear was a pain. The grab one tire from a part in miami and the other one they had to order it from california to ship to miami and then ship the 4 tires to Puerto Rico

But i can give the best review about this tire. Simply love them.
- they look awesome, feel awesome and the sound of the street is barely to none.
When is wet the tire just sticks to the road.

Love them, i'll be grabbing them again

zpower86 02-13-2015 09:10 PM

Tires have arrived.

Really sick of these crap stock tires... basically it'll break lose at will almost... and I'm only at 12k miles. The VDC loves to kick on prettymuch all the time, that's really my only dislike about this car compared to my former tin can on wheels wrx...

I'm set on the PSS, but I have a few questions:

Is there any agreement on the most stable for high speed cornering setup/predictability?

Would going 255/35/19 on the front and 295/30/19 rear the best option?

Suggestions on PSI settings?

Is the trade off with going wider in the back, really just for extra traction off the line, but you give up higher speed stability by not keeping the width the same?

Novice here!!!

Ready to hit the buy button!!! Open to suggestions/opinions as I'd like a predictable setup resulting in the least amount of annoying vdc intervention...

I do trackdays with my PSS's. :driving: :D Have no problem with stability. I run 35~36 psi in both front and rear.

Square setup is the best for cornering/predictability. Plenty of discussion related to this in the track section.

PSI keep what you have on your door. A little less will get you a little more traction but lose some cornering predictability. The opposite for a little more psi.

Wider rear is really for straight line drag style acceleration.

There are a number of people who feel that off the line acceleration is more a suspension issue then a tire issue for our car.

About 10,000 miles and 12~14 trackdays. Replaced the rears. They wore on the inside. The outside had plenty left. The fronts still have about half tread left.

markesc 03-09-2015 04:30 PM

Thanks everyone for the replies!

Tirerack is saying "estimated delivery 4-10-2015" for the 295-30-19's

Any alternatives I should consider? Down to 4/32's according to the stealership...

markesc 03-19-2015 10:08 PM

Well, losing 1-2 psi a day, and don't want to deal with fix-a-flat or the baboons with wrenches at Les schwab... so I just ordered a stock replacement setup, pilot super sports of course!

Maybe in a year I'll try out the wider setup... for now it'll be PSS 245/275's. Doubt I could be unhappy compare to the bridgestoners...

The 285's and 295's are on backorder / not avail for another month...

Thanks everyone for the input!

Seems like the 275's are also now on a national back order for us here in Canada, apparently none in the US to bring up here either as per Michelin. :(

kenchan 03-24-2015 06:23 PM

thought canada and france were like family? :ugh:
