Educate me on (hidden) prices

So what is the deal with vendors not posting their prices? Would it not be easy for members to immediately know what the prices are for wheels, tires, suspension parts, etc.? Sorry for being naive about this.

I am somewhat confused.... and just :werd:

I can't say for sure, but I have a feeling it is to promote "fairness".

I am assuming if vendor A posted his price for a product in a thread, vendor B could see that price, and sell the same product for less to steal any potential customers.

Not sure if that answers your question. I also don't know if its correct, so if it isn't, I'm sorry.

There are also certain guidelines from the manufacturer that control what a distributor can charge for the product. They keep their own pricing private so that the manufacturer cannot see what they are charging. I know this is the case sometimes, probably not the WHOLE reason though.

Yep, it depends on the particular part manufacturer. Some manufacturers don't want prices being advertised that are below MSRP, others don't care. You'll see some adds here with the discounted prices shown, and some without.

dont want other vendors to see the prices....that's the main one.
