I'm completely bald, please help...

My 18" base rims have some smooth tires on them at the moment. Can someone recommend me the biggest tire size I can put on these base rims?
Please don't advise me to look at TireRack because I've done that already. I've tried using calculators as well but I simply don't know what I'm looking at.

I've noticed people advise getting 45 for the front wheels and 40 for the rear (side wall height), why would the front be taller than the back?
Can someone recommend some decent tires for SoCal weather (no snow, barely any rain).

Someone told me "You can go up to a 235/40 or 235/45 front and a 255/40 or 265/40 rear" but 235 seems small for the front. Can't I go 245 on the front and 265 on the back?

Thanks

Even that you said that you tried, the best thing is to use a tire calculator online. That way your speedo won't be too much off. The other way would be to see if you find someone that have switch to a different size of tire and see if you like it.

Most of the time once you change the OEM tires sizes the speedo will have a very small % off.

Anyway, how wide are the base rims?

I realize the speedo will be a bit changed but I don't mind. I don't believe the base rims are 8" wide. I don't know for certain though. thanks

I personally will be goin with a 255/45/18 (circumference on stock is 225/50 is 84.35 vs 84.91 on new tire) on fronts, and 275/40/18 (circumference on stock is 83.81 vs 83.75 on new tire) on the rear on stock rims. Basically, using the minimal required width for the tire sizes but will eventually switch rims also cause im stickin to 18's. Great part is my speedo will not even be .5 mph off at 60 cause circumferences are almost identical.

Would the speedo be off much more if you went with 245/45/18 on the front?

245/45/18 fronts

And

275/40/18 rears

It also depends on ur wheels what the widths are

Seems to be pretty good. My Nismo rim size is 19 x 9.5 (front) with 245/40 & 19 x 10.5 (rear) with 285/35.

^^ that's perfect

Since those widths are our " ideal wheel sizes" you can go bigger on the front and the rear.

225/50/18 circumference : 84.35 in
245/45/18 circumference : 83.81 in
255/45/18 circumference : 84.91 in

All fairly close, 245/45 is a little closer. Main reason i will be goin with a 255/45 right now is because i have a full set of four sitting in the garage that have less then 2k miles on em lol. Use to have them on my Altima but traded it in for the 370z lol.

Our speedo is run off the rear wheels not the front. Speedo's read off the tranny and ours are luckily connected to the rear wheels.
