To pinstripe or not to pinstripe

I just ordered a set of 19" Forgestar F14's from DoubleDown and need to decide if pinstripes are in order.

Car is Pearl White, currently completely stock but will likely be lowered after the wheels get here cause I'll get tired of that fender gap.

Wheels are Piano Black (just like DDM's track wheels), and I need to decide if I should add a white pinstripe or not.

I think "brighter" colors, like red, are much more obvious. Not that Im suggesting red or anything, I just think white is too subdued really, for the stripe...

i dont think so. i only think a stripe looks OK on a flat black wheel. i am going to be purchasing the gunmetal, def no stripe. i hope you are getting 19x10 and 19x11!!

I think a white stripe on a flat black wheel might look alright.

I voted no pinstripe. IMO that would ruin a very attractive wheel.

i think it looks good if it was like an off white....not too bright.

I voted to pin stripe it

GreenJalapeno 06-08-2009 01:46 PM

the white looks great. do a white one for a change.. red is way to common

I voted No Pin Stripe ... I think the wheels you picked look clean as is ... Nice choice !!!

i think a thinner off-white pin-stripe would be awesome,
that pic has a thick bright white pin-stripe, which takes too much attention away from the rim/spoke design.

DO IT!! Not my taste but I say do it if that's what YOU like. That's all that really matters

I would have made the decision alone had I been able to choose. I love the way both look, and was just seeing what everyone else thought. KillerBee's yellow Z is the only reason I thought about the pinstripe, I think it looks really aggressive to have that pinstripe there. But at the same time, the plain piano black wheels have a beautiful finish and are just as aggressive looking on the car.

Keep the opinions coming, still on the fence so every little bit helps

The pinstripe does a great job of breaking up the all black between the wheel and tire.

I voted for no pinstripe. It'd look good if the stripe was another color (for example, blue or red or green or whatnot).

Someone also needs tire shine. ;) (Referring to Forgestar's picture)

Most of the tire shine sprays and wipes will actually brown your tires over time. You're better off just cleaning up the tires with soap, water, and a good brush.

We drive Z's...none of the tires are going to last long enough to brown :roflpuke2:

Well, at least not in the back!

I have another positive point for no stripe...If I ever decide to sell the wheels it will be much easier to find a buyer considering they won't have to try and match the white stripe to their car.
