im gonna stick with 18's. i like the fact that they are lighter, plus here in louisiana, the roads destroy 19's much faster. i bought 8 tires in two years with another car that had 19's. yea 19's are a bit sexier, but i dont plan on taking hairpin turns at 150 mph, and ill never be on a track so 18's for me. i think you guys with pics on here have great taste, and i wanna say thanks for giving me some ideas.

Ill also be goin with 18's on mine. Weds Sports TC-105N's for me. 18x10.5 + 12 for rears and 18X9.5 +35 on fronts. 18.8lbs/rear and 17.6lbs/front. :happydance:

Does anyone here know what wheels would fit around 6piston Wilwood brakes? I want to stay with 18's but I cant find any information on what wheels will fit around these brakes. I am going to get a hold of a template to see how they fit over the base wheels since I know the sport wheels which also use a 14' rotor will fit with the base wheels. I am wanting to go with 255 fronts and 275 rears but may step it down to 245/265. This will be for a track set up and the car will not be lowered anytime soon. I want to avoid spacers and will go with camber arms if needed.

I am really surprised no one has RPF01's in this thread...

I have Rays 57G (front) 18 x 8.5 +33 and (rear) 18 x 9.5 +22 - a strong wheel and no clearance problems ... these wheels give a little more track at the front and noticeably improve trackp-day turn-in - it is now really "crisp" and lets me dive deeper into corners and trail-brake after turn-in as the turn-in bite is sooo good. Needs a fairly stiff front bar setting though AND rear tyres need to be warmed up properly to make sure rear grips matches grip available from the front.
Tyres are smaller diameter than OEM: 245/40R18 and 275/35R18 Dunlop Direzza but they provide a 22mm lower CoG which benefits mechanical grip but avoids the increase camber in bump associated with lowering the car and not moving suspension pickup points. I'm also a bit wary of coil-overs as the shock top mount at the rear is not designed to take the entire suspension shock loads (I often use a "bit" of kerb on the track - especially on slower corners). I am a fan of 18" wheels - especailly for track-day use as the choice of both size and rubber compounds is far wider than in 19". Pic's ...... |
BGTV, is your car lowered or was it the smaller sidewall that lowered the car? I am looking at keeping my sizes as close to the factory ratio as possible to keep ABS and VDC in check when on the street. I like your set up but brake clearance and is something that I am in the dark with.

That looks amazing :yum: Any idea on the specs?
|
That's sick Fusz. I think the tires also make the rims look better.
|
Fusz you running +15 all around?
|
Spec's
18x9.5 +38 (20mm spacer w/extended studs) 18x10.5 + 15 |
Awesome. I put the +38s on my car and they didnt clear the caliper. I guess that is why you are running a spacer. I now have 18x10.5 PF01's all around +15 and the way the spoke is curved, they fit no issues.

I track the car regularly (VDC turned off, but ABS left on) and have only had trouble with ice-mode once - I posted my feedback into the ice-mode thread aq long time ago. On the road, VDC activates a tad early, but I don't drive the car that hard on the road (we have lost one younger family member to road traffic accident and don't want another), so VDC stays on for the road but off for the track |

Is that your car or a customer? |

There's not much I can do about the gap, but go with larger sidewalls. Maybe 45 front and 40 rears?? I am 1" lowered on the front and 1.25" on the rear. If I go any lower I won't be able to get back in my driveway. This thing scraps on small bumps as it is.. |
Wow, that came out great!

I was running 285/35-18 on streets and 275/35-18s on slicks at the track and along with being lowered, I scraped the underside of my stillen bumper enough to grind down the bolts that hold the undertray on and ruined the bumper.
Now I run 295/40-18 slicks and back to 19s for the street. Yesterday, I noticed that I was also bottoming out in the back of the car too http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/4320/dsc01202ah.jpg |
Mike how much are you lowered front and rear ? 1-1.5" ??

Sure, race tires will definitely make the car a little taller. Those things have huge sidewalls.
Man that's a chuck out of that exhaust |
Man I just ordered some 18's for my G37 Coupe and I'm having a helluva time picking the right tire size. If you guys think you have it bad on finding people with 18" sizes check the G Forums it's practically 20" or bust lol.
This is my current tire dilemma, if any of you guys have input I would be glad to take it, all silent on the G forum front and I would like to get this figured out before the wheels get off the slow boat from Japan. Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta- 255/40/18 295/35/18 Michelin Pilot Super Sport - 255/40/18 285/35/18 Falken FK452 - 255/45/18 275/40/18 Hankook Ventus V12 Evo - 255/45/18 275/40/18 |
I think the wheel widths would help in deciding the tire sizes.
