Is discountedwheelwarehouse.com legit?

I wonder if these guys are legit? They've got mixed reviews, mostly based on customer service...but they're like $100 cheaper per tire! :)

"You get what you pay for......................."

I'm just sayin'.

happytheman 03-11-2012 02:57 PM

Well, we all know that Tire Rack is a stand-up site. I've bought multiple sets of tires from them.

Da.Menace 03-13-2012 10:16 PM

I was planning to call them this week to order some Super Sport also.

On Michelin's website, it listed them as one of the dealers...

http://michelinman.com/dealer-locato...tal_code=92831

USA Wheel & Tire Outlet
1301 Burton St
Fullerton, CA 92831
(800) 901-6003

http://www.discountedwheelwarehouse....Contact_us.cfm

Address and phone number matches.. So I'm 99% convinced that it is the same store. But call Michelin/Discounted Wheel Warehouse just to make sure.

As much as I wanted to support Tire Rack, the price difference between the two is not little (IIRC $200-ish difference for the whole set)

Edit: Uploaded prices

A question about the tires themselves, has anyone used them on a Z and just how good are they?

happytheman 03-14-2012 12:10 AM

What, the Michelin PSS? A lot of the guys run them and love them. In fact Consumer Reports rate the as the best UHP Summer tire available!

Hey Da.Menace, thanks for doing that legwork. You're right, it's hard to justify throwing down a couple two or three hundred dollars per set on the same tire at Tire Rack.

Bullet_proof 03-14-2012 10:28 AM

Thanks for the info, will be checking them right away as I'm shopping for rubber for my new wheels. Almost three hundred dollars difference is no joke, and if they are exactly the same product, I don't see anything wrong in going with the best deal.

happytheman 03-14-2012 10:42 AM

Please let me know what your experience is like. I am living vicariously through your purchase experience! :)

Bullet_proof 03-14-2012 11:02 AM

Hey guys anyone have any experience with Toyo's r888?
I'm really diggin those for my back 19x11 on 295/30r19
The thing is I don't seem to find the size for my front 19x9.5, how bad would it be to use r888's on the back and proxes 4 on the front? (since they're the same brand)

happytheman 03-14-2012 11:24 AM

I would stick with the same make and model all around, otherwise you'll likely have sketchy wet/dry handling, noise levels and tire wear. Just my $.02 tho.

Da.Menace 03-15-2012 04:00 PM

Just wondering if anyone here got in touch with alex about Michelin PSS tires.. and what kind of pricing did they get.

kenchan 03-15-2012 04:39 PM

their price is already discounted so i dont think he can cut a better deal.

but what i like about tirerack is they are very reliable and friendly...also they have helped me out when i had warranty issues with one of my summer tires in the past.

happytheman 03-17-2012 05:30 PM

After much deliberation, I have chosen to go with Michelin Pilot Super Sports in 245/40 and 275/35 for my Sport Rays through Tire Rack. A nice perk is the $70 rebate offered on Michelins right now!

Kenchan, I have sent an email to your buddy Alex..now let's see if he gouges me for dropping your name! :rofl2:

Bullet_proof 03-27-2012 11:17 AM

www.discountedwheelwarehouse.com

just ordered a set of 255/35r19 and 305/30r19 Michelin PSS MI for $1374.00 shipped to Florida.
price was at least $280.00 cheaper than the cheapest i could find (Sam's club including $70 rebate), now lets hope they don't take forever...

just thought i should share..

happytheman 03-27-2012 11:19 AM

Hey thanks for sharing. What are you hanging your rubber on?

Yeah, ur right, here I am waiting on shipping info, go and check my bank account and they had not taken the money, so I call them and supposedly they sent me an email saying that they were out of stock...

Anyway, they're out of pss, out of re11, out of r888's out of invos, out of hankooks, pretty much out of EVERYTHING!!!

So What good is it to be very competitive with the prices if you don't have any supplies in stock... Kind of stupid if u ask me.

Ended up going to Costco and ordering re11's $1346.00 shipped/installed/balanced.
