Am I bein scammed?
 

So I took my car to Goodyear today to have them look at a leaky tire. They found a nail in it but said it's to far to the side for them to patch up. They also said I should have my tires replaced because they are really worn down but I only have 12,000 miles on them. Is this usual or are they just trying to get some money out of me?

^some tire shops don't want to do the patch work because is a similar kind of work replacing a tire. You paid $20 for a patch work comparing to $$$ for a tire replacment. I would find another shop that willing to work with you.

There is a rule of thumb that if the nail is a thumbs length away from the sidewall then it should be replaced. I've seen my fair share of tire patchs come loose cause of the location of the leak.

It depends how close it is to the sidewall. Why don't you measure how much tread depth you have?

The nail is within a thumbs length to the side and the rear tires are down to the ware bar :/

Also they are saying the yokahoma sports are $349.00 a tire which they say is "way to much tire". What kind of tires would you guys recommend best for the 370?

I recommend the Hankook ventus V12's. They are easily the best bang for your buck. I even ran them when I had the twin turbo kit on and had no issues. They were quiet, smooth ride, and lasted.

And if you could wait a couple days, I order mine off of discounttiredirect.com. They have really good prices and free UPS shipping. It adds some certificates In the checkout but you can remove them from your order bringing you back to the original price.

OP: I'd go with some Hankook V12s, Michelin Super Sport or the Continental DW.

Well guys, I got Michelin Super sports tires on the rear end. I've been driving with them on since sunday and something feels a little fishy. The guys at the shop balanced and aligned the car but something feels weird. The alignment feels okay but i feel like as I increase speed the car begins to almost wobble or weave a little bit. I'm not sure if this is because the wheels are not properly balanced or the rear tires are new or its because I have different rear tires from the front tires. If anyone could give me some help that would be great, thanks.

How many miles would you say it takes to break them in? I've had them on for at most 100 miles.

Several hundred miles at least, and several heat cycles (tire allowed to cool down completely). Also, it's the middle of winter, why are you driving with summer tires? I realize it's probably been warm in NY too, but mornings are cold, and really, the tires are not reaching the same temperatures they do when it's in the 50's-80's outside.

Aside from that, did they road force balance them? Michelin's tires are usually pretty decent. In fact, when I run them on the bike, I don't need any weights at all, or very small (1-2 squares).

You mention they're on the rear, what's on the front? If the level of grip of front vs rear tires is drastically different, your car will handle funny.
