Fitment is perfect Spooler!! Car looks great. So meaty :D

I had a feeling you were gonna install them sooner rather than later.

Spooler 01-22-2018 06:24 PM

Fitment is perfect. I only had to go to -1.4 front camber to get the fronts tucked in.

So I’ve searched but to no avail...

I was looking for an actual press release or something that talked about the upgrades of the SP5 over the SP3, but still no luck.

Aside from the notches near the hub (on the SP5), to my untrained eye, it seems that the spokes are thinner on the newer model.

Has anyone spotted other differences (from the SP3 to the newer SP5)?

Thanks in advance for your help!

SP5:
3 bolts between spokes
available 18/19/20
notches near the hub

SP3:
4 bolts between spokes
available 19/20

Also, if u look at the size chart, the amount of lip is slightly different for a given width/offset combo

SSR Wheels Thread

First of, big thanks to Josh and Kami Speed for helping me get these dream wheels! Here are some teaser shots (just waiting on a good rebate to help me get some tires...or I may just say "eff it" and get the tires ahead of the rebates, lol):

Here's the front wheel (19 x 9.5 +12):

https://farm1.staticflickr.com/941/2...c1c3a852_c.jpg

Flat Gun Metallic looks dark in some photos, lighter in others. Here's when it looks lighter (and more on how it looks in the sunlight):

https://farm1.staticflickr.com/855/4...a53a6e23_c.jpg

And last but not least, I present to you, the money shot (rear wheel: 19 x 11 +11...131mm [5.16 inches] of wholesome lippy goodness):

KamiSpeed 07-30-2018 12:15 PM

That last shot came out sick. I love how you can see the red bolts mmmm. Cant wait to see these mounted! Thanks again for choosing us for your wheels man!

I made sure to focus on the bolts and the lens cap...I should have placed a dollar bill there, for a better sense of how deep the lip really is.

Thank you Josh, no other place I'd rather go for my wheels (4th set in total...God, I'm such a wheel whore  )

So I'm trying to buy SSR GTV03 in Black 19x10.5 with a low offset and I don't even see it listed on the website anymore. I know I've seen some at that width. Does anyone know
if they make it in that size anymore?

Thank you!

I didn't go more aggressive so that I wouldn't have to roll or pull the fenders or have to add camber to the wheels.

So far, at stock height, no rubs or anything (carrying a passenger, plus I'm a fluffy dude). Maybe in the future if I do decide to lower it, I'll have to add some camber, but I'm happy for now (till I feel the itch for another set of wheels, oh no!).

Just about ready to order my wheels. Will the factory TPMS sensors work with SSR wheels? Or Will I need to source some aftermarket?

They should work, but ask your dealer if it’s possible to request that SSR drill the air valve holes to accept TPMS sensors/standard schrader valves .

I forgot to even ask and the holes were slightly smaller (but the perfect size for the included valves that SSR provides). I had to order a TPMS band kit and strap the sensors to the wheels barrels.

So just ask to see if SSR can do that or if not, take your wheels to a machine shop (or someone with a good drill press/rig that can handle the job).

Oh and if you haven’t selected your authorized dealer, I suggest Josh over at Kami Speed! He’s taken care of me on 5 sets of wheels throughout the years (I need help, lol).

I've spoken with Josh a few times and the actual offset that I wanted they don't carry anymore so I had to get my rear wheels from somewhere else.

I do plan on getting at least the fronts from kamispeed though. So the factory tpms will work then despite being smaller? I'm a bit unfamiliar with the band kit you're talking about :tiphat:

You’ll need to get all of the wheels drilled out, unless SSR offers that directly from the factory as an option.

The TPMS sensors will not fit if you don’t drill out the holes...the standard Schrader valve is just a little too wide to fit. Here’s the band kit that I got from Amazon to give you a better idea of what I’m talking about. White Knight TPMS22105 Stainless Steel Finish TPMS Strap Kit, (Set of 4) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B2FCQ86..._n-XfCb1K7N1HP

Hopefully though, if SSR can drill them to the Schrader valve/TPMS diameter, you can avoid all of that.

Hope that helps!

I see. Since the wheels are already here in the states I don't see that being possible unless I send them back to SSR. I'll go ahead and grab that band kit though. Thanks for the help!

SSR GTX does not come in appropriate sizes for our car

the most aggressive setup is 19x9.5 +25 and 19x10.5 +22

weaker than your standard TE37 setup

That brake kit WOULD be awesome!

Sorry for misleading the group...but since wheels are sometimes called a car's "shoes", my Z is a posh-y girl and likes fancy pumps...errr, ok, nevermind.

'nuff said, on with the show:

https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7843/...0c63126b_c.jpg

Just a quick iPhone pic right after the install.

I got my SP1s back last August and kinda was bummed that the flat gunmetal was a little dark (was looking for more of a contrasty look to the wheels, not for them to appear all black)...I then ventured to some Volk TE37SLs in Mag Blue (which look awesome on the car), but the Z wanted another pair of pumps.

Instead of getting yet another set (Josh @ Kami Speed would have loved me even more, lol), I decided to powder coat the centers. Tiffany Blue is a love it or hate it color, but that's what I went for, a classy look (which this pic does not do justice for).

I'll bust out the Nikon for some better pics once the weather gets better.

Now, to save up for those brakes!

KamiSpeed 02-01-2019 02:44 PM

I still love you just the same! ^^^^^^^

Though you should jump in on those OG TE37s.........LOL

OptionZero 02-01-2019 05:51 PM

don't like the blue centers

keep the gunmetal

get the project Mu's

I think you’re headed in a good direction.

The tricky thing about dark lips is “losing” them in the tire. Just my .02, a TA stripe on the outside edge raised lip. I think there are even TA stickers now? Something that compliments the teal blue (or maybe contrast); or you could do tire stickers if you like those. Then match the lugs to that that color. White stripe, white lugs. It would break up all the black.

Or just tell me to bugger off.

I do dig them though :)

did it with my old 350z back in 09'. It made such a big difference. The hard part is finding the right thickness for the strip and in some cases, complimenting it with the right color. If I remember correctly, I went with 1/4" or 6-7mm thickness.

Just wondering, is there a special tape to use?

I went to a vinyl shop and got them to cut me, I think it was, 16 57"-60", 1/4" wide strips, on a 19" wheel. Most vinyl shops carry 3M or Avery vinyl so youll always get a good brand. Youll want back up strips since they start to get a bit scuffed up every 6 months or so, due to wear and tear of daily driving.
