19">18" Pros/Cons

Heard the ride is bumpier on the 19"s. Debating between , powder coating the oem black, getting some 18"s on the og tires or all out 19"s. Opinions are more than welcomed. Also any recommendations on all black wheels, BBS or BBS like with a decent lip.

Thanks y'all

Riding on 19"s is not that bad at all.

I had 19's on my car and went to 20's now you want to talk about harsh.

kenchan 10-16-2011 02:57 PM

Imho 18 is too small for the Z unless for race application.

what are your plans for the car?

ride with 19s is not really much rougher than with 18s, though it depends which tires you run.

Which BBS look are you after?

NewlyIMPORTed 10-16-2011 06:13 PM

not very many tires available in fat sizes for 18s though

Havent singled out a single wheel for the BBS, just know I'd like a lip and all black wheel.

I plan to make it a clean, blacked out, towards showmore than performance.

Here is my z with a set of 18s...

49erZ 10-16-2011 10:31 PM

Did you drop yours Corbin?

hdskull 10-16-2011 10:36 PM

19s = heavier, more noise, more expensive, but looks better.

corbin09 10-17-2011 09:09 AM

Yes, I am lowered just a little bit.

Mike 10-17-2011 09:12 AM

I like my 18s,
http://img19.imageshack.us/img19/9818/dsc01013pe.jpg

but you should just powdercoat the stockers and be done if you don't want to spend a lot of money.

If you want a lip, the S-tune wheels have a nice rear one and a decent front one, and can also be powdercoated black:

Mike 10-17-2011 09:13 AM

the downside of 18s is finding appropriate height tires that are wide enough. my 285/30s are a little over an inch shorter than stock.

corbin09 10-17-2011 10:01 AM

Mike-
That is the problem I constantly run into.. finding the right tire ratio on these ones. specially when searching for cheap tires! I do love the way it handles and drives compared to my 20's though. Track wheels FTW!

49erZ 10-17-2011 12:40 PM

Those S-Tunes are some sweet wheels mike, what they run you? Powder coating was my first thought, but if some sweet wheels like those are whitin reach I wouldnt mind dishing out some $

Mike 10-17-2011 03:20 PM

I think you can pick them up at a discount Nissan dealer or even Z1 for around 2000-2200 plus another 300 for powdercoating. Starts getting pricey, but they are nice wheels.

Actually, if you did get them and order from Z1, I could coat them for 200 for you since they are new and require a little less work on my part, and Z1 sends me stuff to coat all the time.

49erZ 10-18-2011 02:28 PM

powdercoating

I'm getting quoted 150 a wheel for powder coating, sucks your not local. Is there a big differnce between BBS og and replicas, local shop had both.

corbin09 10-18-2011 03:05 PM

The difference is in weight. If you are going to save weight get the real ones, if you are just dding your car and would like to save the cash, reps are a good alternative.

KamiSpeed 10-18-2011 04:21 PM

if you're going 1 piece then I would say go 18's, just because they're lighter...
if you 're going 2/3 piece then just stick to 19's, in this case go big or go home haha, plus I think 2/3 piece wheels have issues fitting with 18's

49erZ 10-19-2011 02:53 PM

Cool, thanks for the tips. 18"s one piece reps or powder coating seem to be my options.
