XXR 521 rims need spacer help

PLEASE HELP!!!

Hi i just purchased some 20" Staggered Flat Black XXR 521 rims. Bolt pattern 5-114.4/120. 20x8.5 offset +32 (front) & 20x10.5 offset +30 (rear) with Falken FK-452 Tires 245/35/20 (front) & 285/30/20 (rear). I have a 2009 370z coupe base model. So my question is, what is the best measurement of spacer should i get installed?

If you're running stock height or have a mild drop (less than 1"), you could use 15 to 20 mm spacers up front and 20 to 25 mm in the rear.

Personally, I would do 20mm front and 25mm rear.

First off thanks for the reply(:

So exactly the way i have my rims and tires set up on stock height with 20mm up front and 25mm on rear would be ok? And what would be the best brand of spacers?

kenchan 05-24-2011 11:30 AM

hummm.. at stock height i would go no spacer upfront and 15mm spacers on the rear.

depending on your wheel's disc design if it has voids between the lug bores you can use the V2 type Ichiba spacers or Kic's. If no voids, then you can use the stud-replacement type spacers.

your wheels are lug centric so no need for centering rings if you dont have the budget to get them for the Kics. For the Ichiba v2, they come with the rings.

hope this helps. :)

I have H&R spacers (DRS = longer replacement studs included). They are hubcentric. You should find them trouble-free.

i would suggest no more than 10mm up front and no more than 15 in the rear.

czheng51 05-24-2011 05:26 PM

If i go with 10mm up front and 15mm rear, would i need my fenders rolled? Do u think this set up with rise the height of my car becuz im thinkin bout getting some tein s tech springs?

djpathfinder 05-24-2011 05:37 PM

No to both questions. With 10 and 15 mm you'll still be slightly inside the fenders. Spacers will not raise the suspension height.

Ok thanks.. I meant to say if i put the xxr will my cars height be higher cuz there 20"..

Looks like they will be pretty close to the same overall diameter as OEM, but you'd have to refer to a tire manufacturer spec sheet or use a tire calculator to check the tires' overall diameter to find out for sure.

Should not raise it at all. The tire sizes you picked are good.

i hope this will work out fine without rubbing my fenders: Tein S Tech Springs, ichiba 20mm (front) & 25mm (rear), and xxr rims 20x8.5 with 245/35/20 (front) & 20x10.5 with 285/30/20..i just dont want to end up buying all the parts and run the risk of something going wrong

daisuke149 05-25-2011 11:00 AM

20 and 25 might be too much. Just get everything except for the spacers
then when you have it all installed
take a measuring tape
and see how big of a spacer you want to run.

Based on all the specs you stated in this post and your first post (offsets), you shouldn't rub when lowered and using the 20/25mm combo. But if you want to play it safe and go a little on the conservative side and get 15 mm front and 20 mm rear, you will FOR SURE not rub the fenders.

czheng51 05-25-2011 11:17 AM

ok i know this might be a little off topic but i was wondering with the tein s tech springs, would i need front & rear camber kit?

kenchan 05-25-2011 11:58 AM

not sure probably just the rear.

djpathfinder 05-25-2011 12:03 PM

If you want to bring front and camber back to spec, you will need a camber kit. That's because you cannot adjust front camber with the OEM suspension components. Also, there might not be enough adjustment in the rear...at least that was my case. On mine the rear camber was only adjustable back to -2.4 (still outside of spec). I have front and rear camber kits because I wanted to be able to adjust and fine tune camber for an aggressive street/light track setup. Your best bet is to install your springs, give them a chance to settle (1 or 2 weeks), figure out what spacers you want to put on (install them), and then do a wheel alignment. Do it in that order. Adding spacers on top of lowering your car will create more negative camber. Then you can decide how much camber correction you need to do...that'll help you decide on whether or not you need camber kits front and rear.

if i install the springs without getting a wheel allignment wouldn't my tires start wearing funky? and what is the original spec of front & rear camber?

Yes.

You need a rear camber kit or an alignment is worthless

New springs will require a little bit of time to settle. Give it a week to do so. Your tires will be fine during that time unless you will be driving lots, eg. going on a road trip.

I lowered my car about 1/2" rear and 3/4" front and have 15/20 mm spacers on OEM Rays wheels at the moment. I ended up purchasing camber kits anyway b/c I wanted my camber adjusted a certain way. I can tell you that without the camber kits, you can't get the camber back to spec. This is where some people have a difference of opinion or are indifferent (ie. doesn't matter to them what the end camber will be so long as the car looks good). When I asked the same question as you, a lot of people said, "oh no...no camber kit is needed unless you lower more than 1". Like I said, that wasn't the case.

My personal advice to you is if you want to do it right, get the camber kits front and rear. It'll save you unnecessary (uneven) tire wear. Also, if you wait for an alignment to decide if you need the camber kits, you basically will have to pay for a second alignment once the camber kits are installed.

ok thank you very much(:

i was thinking about getting the same setup minus the spacers plus wider tires on the rear. maybe 325s? idk if thats possible but i want the rears to look as fat as possible. how did yours turn out?
