Subscribed - interested in see pics of the 295s.

Any of you guys switched between the PSS and Hankook V12 tires? I barely got 8k with the rear tires after getting turbos (lots of spinning and wheel hopping on cold days haha). The insides are close to getting bald, but it doesn't seem like these tires had much tread to begin with. The front tires have at least 75% tread left.

I'm just wondering if it's worth it to spend a bit more on the PSS over the Hankook if these tires will last a bit longer, or stick to Hankooks because they're easily disposable for the money.

Digi- not very scientific but the conti DW's have a 340AA vs 300AA PSS.... so might be worth a look. :D

i would not sacrifice grip just for wear. it's kinda normal for me to replace the rear tires 2x as fast as the fronts.

If you are on a budget I'd get Conti DW over V12s any day of the week.

I went from the V12 to the PSS. The V12 were getting too greasy after a couple of track laps... The SS are very constant throughout the heat cycles. Since you have a stage II and 75% left on the fronts, i would buy another V12 rear set and burned them till they drop.. The SS should improve your acceleration times (less tire spin). Threadware could be an issue on the SS...

I actually had quite the similar problem! :icon17:

Got a set of PSS' the rears only gave me 8k but the fronts are still at 8 and 7/32nds So I had a set of V12's put on the rear for treadlife. But it's annoyingly loose even on spirited road driving. Not even from a standing start. I knew the V12's weren't the best for cornering, but I was trying to cut costs. I won't get another set of V12's again. It will either be DW's until the fronts wear out, then a full set of PSS' again. Or a full set of DW's if they do better than the V12's.

PSS front and V12 rear are just a terrible match. You shouldn't run mis-matched sets anyways, and those tires are just so different it's going to lead to terrible handling.

How come everyone wears the rear first. My fronts are wearing about 20% faster

Yah my area is straight roads pretty much.

Thanks for the suggestions! Yes, I'll definitely get another set of V12 tires so it can catch up with the fronts. Next month I might take it to the strip, so I'm going to need some fresh rubber! In the meantime, I'll burn these tires while setting up the MBC.

Unfortunately, the Conti DWs are not available in 305/30 size unless I want to change the setup to 265/35 and 285/35. From the ratings, it looks like these tires give the V12 a run for the money.

Despite the turbos, my car is a daily driver. Anything better than the stock tires and fits the budget is good in my books.

Anybody selling a 265-35-19? :) pilot sport

cossie1600 02-15-2012 11:31 PM

I have a pair of RE11 265/35/19 you can have for free, not much tread on them, but still good for autox

Ni55anPat 02-16-2012 09:07 AM

Need a matching tire lol.....

Pilot sports are great but def cost a good buck.
