Rim Care?

Hey Guys,

Question, do any of you use some sort of a wax on your rims? The reason I ask is because when I first bought the car, it seemed like there was some sort of coating on the rim that make it very slick (almost to repel dirt/dust/brakedust) and after a year, it seems that it has lost this "slickness". Was just curious how you people care for them...

i use Prima Hydro... QD of choice for the wheels is Prima Slick.

klasse aio, followed by 3-4 layers of klasse sealant glaze :)

definitely helps with keeping the wheels clean/dust free

and these are waxes? sorry, not familiar with what either of the above posters mentioned...

Hydro is a polymer spray sealant. will last a good 3-4wks. Slick is a polymer based QD (quick detailer spray).

ive tried several different products, but the best kind are the ones that take very little effort. with Hydro you just spray it while the wheel's still wet during the wash and wipe off with your towel. you can use it on paint and even glass and plastics, will not whiten plastics or rubber.

the more involved products one use, they get sick of using it (too lazy).

you can also use Hydro on dry surface. spray into your towel and wipe on.

Gotcha, thanks for the info. Do you guys have a polish you like to use? polishes make me nervous. When i was younger, i bought a set of new rims for my car, used the wrong polish and it took away all the shine and i was never really able to get it back. Hence, they make me nervous haha.

pelican- unless you have scuffage no need to polish it. if you have tars and stuff use a soft claybar instead. (actually i use RC car motor spray on a rag to wipe off tars).

if you do want to polish, ScratchX (available locally) are easy to use. get a foam applicator pad and use some elbow grease. be very careful on the wheels cause the coating is pretty thin.

oops sorry.

klasse all in one - its a chemical cleaner/light polish kind of thing. you can apply it by hand to clean the wheels up real nice

klasse sealant glaze - its a synthetic sealant, much like wax, but its super durable. i apply 2 coats each time to all my cars twice a year. makes water/rain bead like mad!

Oh ok, perfect. No the cars mint and no scuff's in the rims. Good to know, thanks.

^This x1000

The exact same method that I use and it works like a dream. I've tried carnubas and other sealants, but keep coming back to klasse for wheels.
