305/30/19 and 265/35/19 pics to follow. They look so mean. Wrapped them around my new volk te37's. Finally flush

tom,
you don't think there is too much of a stagger running 265/305 vs. I heard people say you're better of going 275/305? what do you think?

Where in the Bay Area are you? I would not mind seeing your setup in person sometime and comparing to the Michelin PSS's I just put on a few weeks ago.

Honestly I just copied what most with the te37's run. Was a bit worried about rubbing with the 275 up front. Some more time and I can answer your question better aftwer some driving

265/35/19 & 305/30/19 has a staggered section width difference of 1.58 = more understeer than OEM staggered section width of 1.18.

Yup the 275/35/19 & 305/30/19 is dialed right on at 1.18

Now try 265/35/19 & 285/35/19 which is at 0.79 = less understeer

I agree the 275's may have rubbing issues, also depends on your drop. Running stock height probably no rubbing issues.

Fern to the Z 05-04-2011 08:55 AM

Z,
Would you recommend to go with 265/35/19 & 285/35/19 over 265/35/19 & 305/30/19, if i'm planning on going with Swifts spec -R sports springs? it gives a 1 1/2" drop in the front and 1" Rear.

ZForce 05-04-2011 02:11 PM

I have heard from reputable members on this forum, that the 305/30/19 will fit on the sport rims but they feel the tire is too large for the rim. I also have 25mm spacers in the rear so 305's would stick out too much. The 285's on 25mm wheel spacers is perfect IMO.

The 265/35/19 up front work perfect with the Swift Spec-R springs (I have them) with no rubbing at all. Again I am on 20mm wheel spacers.

Fern to the Z 05-04-2011 06:34 PM

Awesome Z,
I'll stick with the 265/35/19 & 285/35/19 size. Rep for you:tup:

ZForce 05-04-2011 06:47 PM

^Thanks, hopefully I will have some photos of my new setup posted up soon. Probably going to open a new thread showing off this awesome setup as it appears I may the first.

Just got the S-04 pole Positions. Maybe 40 miles on them BUT they are definitely quieter than either the Potenzas or Advans. Had both.

40 miles in you really have no idea what they will sound like.

I have re-11's and they are awesome for the price!!

cossie1600 05-29-2011 11:17 PM

Maybe I am in the wrong world, $1200 for a set of tires seems like a load to me

actually the S04's are more like 1350 for the set + shipping/mounting/balance.

my DW's were considerably cheaper (probably because they are made in the USA and doesnt get hit with JPY exchange rate) $1000 + shipping/mount/balance...and in all honestly, they're not bad at all. grips like glue and comfy and quiet.

Mike's 370z 05-30-2011 05:55 AM

Tire choice is all about personal preference. I was looking for the best combination of dry and wet performance, and I chose the S-04s because of the wide lateral grooves that signaled potentially serious wet performance capabilities. I have not been disappointed. While I believe the Michelin's new competitor would have been better in the dry, the S-04's are far above my skill level in the dry, and are simply outstanding in the wet. Furthermore, I opted for the 285mm on the rear in place of the 275, which added over an inch of surface contact area as I measured when I received the S-04s. I might have opted for the Michelins if they were available in the same size, but have no regrets on my choice.

I am looking for a size that would fit well on the sport rims with 25mm spacers in Rr and 20mm spacers in the Fr on Swift springs, trying to keep them from rubbing in the front and keep from looking like a 4x4 in the rear. Anyone have any ideas on the ideal oversizing for my setup?

I like to OP's setup for front and back.

255/35/19 F
285/30/19 R

I will be going will RE-11's in a couple months when my tires are bald.

kenchan 05-30-2011 07:01 AM

Mike- I'm not stating u and others made a bad decision at all on the S04's! Just saying they are more money than 1200 clossie mentioned. I'm getting S04's next myself. Just wanted to try the conti's this time. This is the first time I bought any conti tire. Its not bad from wat I found. :)

kenchan 06-24-2011 09:31 PM

Getting S04's wrapped tomorrow on my G's SSR wheels. :p. I didn't realize RE050A pole position were already closed out so my store (tirerack) don't have them any more in the sizes I want (245/35/19 & 275/35/19). But its ok! :D

Will be making a road trip tomorrow so by the time I'm home the new tires will already be broken in
 I'm :excited:

blackbird 06-25-2011 04:18 AM

I just on the Pole Positions a few weeks ago. Quieter than the Potenzas, or Advans. Absolutely great in rain. In Northeast we are or have been getting rain, a lot. Better grip than the the others also. I don't start going sideways if I hit it. Not doing WOT but 4000-5000 RPMs. Running GTM Twin Turbos.

ValidusVentus 06-25-2011 09:58 AM

Ill run this past you guys. I'm currently running stock fronts and continental extreme contact DWs on the rear (definitely more sticky than the oem potenzas) since I prematurely wore out my rears and I now need to replace my fronts. Was originally going to get DWs but thinking I might go with the S04's for the front for their stiffer sidewalls/better steering response. Would this increase understeer? (dont think id like that) Don't mind the slightly more flexible sidewalls in back as it gives the tires more gradual slippage if i get it sideways... is my understanding correct here?
Opinions? Thanks

kenchan 06-25-2011 10:33 AM

Woot! I'm getting s04's wrapped right now. :p. Thanks again to my buddy Alex at TireRack

Here's a snap of TireRack show room...

No scratches or scuffs on my SSR wheels that had RE050A wrapped and replaced with S04's. Gotta luv their work. Even the lug bores were scratch free when they removed and install the wheels. Psi was set to 35 which is factory so no issue. I will raise it a few later. Lugs were also torqued, not sure by how much bit it was tighter than 80lbs. Hope not over torqued

TireRack rocks. :D

As for the s04's I put about 200 miles on them already. They feel like the RE050A polepositions yet they are considerably quieter after about 50 miles. :) there were no surprises and the tires feel and look great!

ZeeingAround 06-25-2011 07:53 PM

What was the total cost?

$1330 out the door. :) includes Indiana sales tax and $15/tire labor & tire disposal. talk to Alex x294. ive been dealing with him for ~10yrs, dealing with tirerack like 15yrs.

Edit: forgot to mention...the price is for 245/35/19 and 275/35/19 pairs I got for my G.
Price should be similar for 245/40/19 and 275/35/19 pairs though!

kenchan 06-27-2011 08:37 AM

Tried the S04's in the rain this am. Good! gotta luv Uni-T. Let my G loose a little while merging, no VSD interruption.
